aint that what dj drama got arrested for?

yup they raided his studio with SWAT teams and M-16s, seized all his equipment, seized the original masters for the Gangsta Grillz album, and told local reporters they shut down a bootleg ring, all proud n shit. Local news reported the shit like it was a drug bust. As far as the RIAA is concerned, all non-retail mixtapes are "counterfeit cds".

You see, the Industry doesn't like n!ggers having full creative control and being able to sample without paying some New York publishing company $500,000 for a 5 second sample. They want everyone to get back into the sheep pen and be at their mercy again, like in "the good ol' days" before Fifty came along. Ish like the Dead Prez Gangsta Grillz tape makes their greedy souls burn slow.

U.S. Government Seizes BitTorrent Search Engine Domain and More

Written by enigmax on November 26, 2010

Following on the heels of this week’s domain seizure of a large hiphop file-sharing links forum, it’s clear today that the U.S. Government has been very busy. Without any need for COICA, ICE has just seized the domain of a BitTorrent meta-search engine along with those belonging to other music linking sites and several others which appear to be connected to physical counterfeit goods.

While complex, it’s still possible for U.S. authorities and copyright groups to point at a fully-fledged BitTorrent site with a tracker and say “that’s an infringing site.” When one looks at a site which hosts torrents but operates no tracker, the finger pointing becomes quite a bit more difficult.

When a site has no tracker, carries no torrents, lists no copyright works unless someone searches for them and responds just like Google, accusing it of infringement becomes somewhat of a minefield – unless you’re ICE Homeland Security Investigations that is.

This morning, visitors to the Torrent-Finder.com site are greeted with an ominous graphic which indicates that ICE have seized the site’s domain.

“My domain has been seized without any previous complaint or notice from any court!” the exasperated owner of Torrent-Finder told TorrentFreak this morning.

“I firstly had DNS downtime. While I was contacting GoDaddy I noticed the DNS had changed. Godaddy had no idea what was going on and until now they do not understand the situation and they say it was totally from ICANN,” he explained.

Aside from the fact that domains are being seized seemingly at will, there is a very serious problem with the action against Torrent-Finder. Not only does the site not host or even link to any torrents whatsoever, it actually only returns searches through embedded iframes which display other sites that are not under the control of the Torrent-Finder owner.

Torrent-Finder remains operational through another URL, Torrent-Finder.info, so feel free to check it out for yourself. The layouts of the sites it searches are clearly visible in the results shown.

Yesterday we reported that the domain of hiphop site RapGodFathers had been seized and today we can reveal that they are not on their own. Two other music sites in the same field – OnSmash.com and DaJaz1.com – have fallen to the same fate. But ICE activities don’t end there.

Several other domains also appear to have been seized including 2009jerseys.com, nfljerseysupply.com, throwbackguy.com, cartoon77.com, lifetimereplicas.com, handbag9.com, handbagcom.com and dvdprostore.com.

All seized sites point to the same message.

Domain seizures coming under the much debated ‘censorship bill’ COICA? Who needs it?

Update: Below is an longer list of domains that were apparently seized. Most of the sites relate to counterfeit goods. We assume that the authorities had a proper warrant for these sites (as they had for RapGodFathers yesterday), but were unable to confirm this.

Update: A spokeswoman for ICE confirmed the seizures in the following statement. “ICE office of Homeland Security Investigations executed court-ordered seizure warrants against a number of domain names. As this is an ongoing investigation, there are no additional details available at this time.”

i have been using to legal ways to get music

the first is getting the amazon 1.99 deal. randomly every now and then amazon will have albums for 1.99 i got that john legend and the roots album this week for that price

the second thing is trading music with other people. Lets say this year you want the kanye, banks, ross, t.i, and eminem albums. Have each of your friends download an album and you each trade with each other. USB or cd works for that or use aol instant messaging. Also some of my friends got classic albums ive wanted to hear so i use i dump to get thier whole i pod to my computer

Good to hear this.

No artist deserves to have their music pirated.

Well, some do deserve it. I'm talking about those that don't even put their heart into the music or care at all about how it sounds or if it will satisfy their listeners. If you don't give a fuck about me enjoying your CD, why the fuck should I put money in your pocket?

damn, rapgodfathers was probaly the best site to get music...except for all the pop ups and shit...damn onsmash..I never downloaded anything off them but their media content was second to none. they used to have a poster up here...young legend I think, who used to promote the hell outta them.

I think this is doin more harm then good for the artists. people are not going to go back to paying for what they are used to getting for free. if anything the artists should be happy that motherfuckers are still going to their shows... esp in todays rap climate all these new artists are interchangeable. they are just going to put them selves outta a job by the next best thing willing to give their stuff away for free and make money off shows and appearances.

records labels aint nothing but unneeded middle men nowadays. all the need for distribution and and marketing has been elminated by the availability of the net to artists as well as american citizens.

I'm glad the gov is finally taking care of this situation. Now we may be able to get some good music out of artist.

thank you. these posters are killing me how they act live every album before the napster area was a certified classic...they need the gtfoh with that shit. we need to make a thread about every album purchased based off 2 songs was complete and utter garbage. and you gotta remember that even before napster motherfuckers would just wait until someone bought the cd/tape when it came out and just dub a copy...like somebody already said, if they need to go ahead and ban dvdr, cdr and everything else.

YOU co-sign this!??!

They're not just censoring those hip hop sites BTW!!

Yeah I co-sign.

Other then the issue with pirated music, in which if one had an issue with getting albums, then one can get albums from the artists directly!

You just gave the government your freedom to use the internet for other reasons not even including downloading! (Well actually they took it from us)

The main reason they're doing this is because the record companies are not receiving money off of albums anymore.
But in reality this could lead to worse things, such as censoring history pages or pages or research that they feel may be "threatening".

I'm not challenging piracy, I disagree with it too, especially due to the fact that the artist him/herself could use self promotion to engage the audience into buying and
also the emergence of itunes and similar vehicles like that! But when no one challenges bills like this, who knows what other sneaky shit they may pull!!

I will never ever in my life buy a CD blindly without knowing what's inside. I will promise the artists I like that I'll actually buy their CDs that I love once I'm living off my own cash and work but as for now I gotta do what I can and that's to download the stuff in order to hear it. Getting all the CDs I listen to regularly is a future mission of mine and I definitely don't like artists that work for their music being ripped-off like that but at the same time downloading is useful because a lot of people like what they hear and decide to buy it in the future. That's also the intention of many people that leak albums when they've just been release. I always see "Enjoy and go support the artist!!!" in the comments section for most current albums I download. Some people do that while others just enjoy it illegally. I fall in the latter category currently but I'm only a little away from 17 and it doesn't make sense for me to spend most of the cash I have currently to make a living on CDs, but surely when I have a job and make money finely, I will definitely give some of it to the artists I love cause they deserve it but even then I will first D/L the album before making a final decision.

This is killing the artist in question in many ways too. I mean, it's okay that they make downloading blocked but USA should definitely let spotify launch there because it's a legal way for the people to listen to the music they please streamed and the company pay the artists a small amount for X amount of listens. It's no different than iTunes or Napster the way I see it, it's just better.

Well now at least with iTunes I can preview the album and download what I want. I'm not buying an album blindly ever again.

That kills me too, the first two websites they wanted to censor happened to be hip hop websites! Don't you see this ironic?!?!

Another thing I found ironic is that they are trying to pass this law under people's noses, how come this news isn't being told in all formats,
I want the people reading into this thing to realize that there's a hidden agenda into these people's intentions!
