Have you ever thought about moving outside of Alaska like anywhere in the states?

All the time. I can definitely see myself moving and getting away from here. I need to find something more career like before I do though. Figured I would go to school up here while I'm a resident and maybe get a job for a bit to get experience then take off.

Job is really the only thing stopping me, I'm too scared to just pack up and leave without much money or a set plan. If I do move I know I'll want to Come back eventually though. Definitely been something I've wanted for awhile now.

Dope interview, dope poster...

Any rappers or producers from Alaska that we should be checking for?...

No not really there was one company that was getting big called arctic flow records. They did shows in Europe and the states but they weren't anything too awesome. Look up Josh boots or AKream. Probably the 2 most famous rappers behind joker the bail bondsman.

Joker was locked up for awhile but has been released and has since started working on bringing together the cities rappers for projects hoping him and his connections will bring some good stuff.

Couple other rappers that are starting to build a name is Jacob jump, young block, and mr moore

I had came in here to hit the "YEA DAWG!" but @Stew already beat me to that shit.

Lou a funny dude on and off the forum, i remember the first time I was in a party chat with him and some other folks and niggas were like damn u really from Alaska? i think we all were expecting him to have some crazy ass accent or some shit.

@Lou_Cypher Indeed have your money in order before you take off. I'm going through the same thing as well. I'm just waiting until I graduate to put a degree next to my name but when you do move (unless you leave as soon as you get that job opportunity in your career) then you probably will have to start at the bottom like work any job that'll be easily accessible, just to get your footprints planted in the city with a consistent income. Then once you get stable, you can build from there.

*cues Patiently Waiting beat* Lou, you know you my favorite white boy, right?

Great interview, but 5th failed to ask the only 3 questions that matter... what made you start the sample challenge, when are you gonna bring it back, and can you really see Russia from your porch?

That's funny cuz no matter where I go even here in anchorage people ask me where my accent is from.

Lmao.

I started the sample flip series because part of my love for hip hop is sampling. How producers take a familiar sound but arrange it into something new. Also hearing something you love and searching and discovering where it originally came from. It makes you appreciate music of all genres. I'm not a producer but I have played around with a friends MPC and made throw away beats. It's awesome just searching random ass music but finding the smallest segment that can be turned into a dope ass loop.

Mass appeal has the rhythm roullette series on youtube where they are blind folded and pick 3 random records. That was the inspiration really. I knew we had producers here, but I never heard from them very much and wanted to see if anyone was up for the challenge

Ive been slacking and haven't starTed a new volume in awhile but it will be back soon. It was disappointing seeing the lack of activity In the thread, but the producers who participate really seem to enjoy it so at the very least I will continue it for them to get their practice in and have some more work shown off. I'll try making one this weekend

have you ever thought about working oil and gas positions there? I was looking at it about 3 years ago when the oil boom was still on and popping. From what I understand the pay is good and the rotation is good (21 days straight working for 12 hours and off for a week) with free housing and food. Also, how much do you get from the state of Alaska due to their oil and gas business?

Slope job is definitely something ive thought about. Would be something I'd have to go to school for though. They have entry level jobs up there in kitchens or changing oil on the rigs which I could do but I never applied. A lot of the oil work is hard to get into as they have been laying off folks a lot due to the price of oil. They've been tryin to open more drilling areas called anwr but the natives don't want drilling in that area so it hasn't begun it's been a topic for over 10 years though. But getting an oil job up there you'll need lots of certifications and experience at the moment they aren't just taking anybody.

As far as the pfd (state check for alaskans) it happens every october. It's called the dividend. Or pfd. It varies. Lowest I've ever gotten was 300 dollars highest we've gotten waa 3k. This year was supposed to be 2100 but 3 days prior the governor announced that due to budget issues they needed to take half of it so we only got 1050 and a log of people are pissed off and protesting and it's currently in court to get reimbursed to us, but so far it's not looking too good

@Lou_Cypher is the man pots and pans. ;-)

Never a dull moment, keeps me laughing on PS4. #missinmycrew. lol
