Lying, manipulation, do you think these things are natural? You could argue they are as they a subset of selfishness which is natural...perhaps even innate...

Whats your thoughts?

Yep. Cuz we all fall short. But that's when morals and self control come into play. Being able to conquer the things that we consider "being human" is the real test. It can be done, but it's not easy.

Yes. Even babies and children are dishonest

"Are u sleepy?"

Yes, free will gives the ability to control deceit but the more I read about the nature of deceit I see it has alot of evolutionary advantage as well.

Thats would explain alot, such as why those who engage in deceitful practices seem to have more success than more honest individuals.

No.

its funny the type of things people try to pass of as natural or unnatural

Whats natural is our bodily functions our reactions

Most other things are learned.

The power of choice and critical thinking complex thoughts and communication is just a few of the things that separate us from everything else

...along with the ability and rationalize certain thoughts/actions an behaviors

anybody come in here saying some shit about a dolphin or some primate or parakeet Kill yourself in advance..

I agree people choose to be deceitful, there are times when deceit gives you an advantage over another individual.

Yeah some people practice being sincere. I had a roommate like that. It took me a while to figure him out.

Imagine that; practicing being sincere.

Absolutely and it's all for personal gain, I'd say this is in the animal kingdom as well. Playing dead, camouflage, lures (anglerfish), mimicking other species calls/actions, deception etc. Tactical deceit is seen in apes, monkeys, even cephalopods.

But we have a higher level of thinking so we are able to use it more tactically to our advantage.

So true. That Anglerfish is a bad muhfucka. Some animals evolved for the purpose of deceiving predators and prey, how amazing is that?

Yeah, alligators collect small sticks to rest on their heads and trick birds into collecting th sticks for their nests and then when they get close enough they eat them.

I am not sure which one it is. I'd like to think it's learned because children don't really lie until age 2, like intentionally trying to deceive you lying, yet it comes so naturally without it readily being taught you want to think it's natural. I mean I do think deep down we are both, good and bad, and all that comes with it and it is part of the human life to go beyond the lesser of the two and always choose good thoughts, actions and words. But I also think humanity is not ready for truth 100% all the way. We don't even like to be honest with ourselves.

Self-preservation is natural. Lying and deceit are usually caused by self-preservation...so yes. That doesn't really mean anything though. Natural or not, wrong is wrong.
