As an MC strictly as far as pure rapping he is the best technically at that and the most complex MC

I would listen to a Jay Z Freestyle before i ever listen to a song of his

Musically people no how i feel about Jay Z

Terrible discography his better albums even his best one Reasonable Doubt has aged badly

His biggest strength by far is Flow

He's gone on to accomplish more and become bigger since Black Album. He's basically playing with house money now because he has already accomplished all he could in hiphop (classic albums, songs, verses, etc). At this point it's building your legacy and becoming more than just a ''hiphop'' legend but a ''music'' legend.

A rapper like Jay Z or any other rapper that just spits bars be it Jadakiss, Canibus, Fabolous, Slaughterhouse, Nas, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Pun, Big L, Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica etc can never be a music legend or will ever in a billion years be accepted as 1 as they just rhyme bars don't do anything besides rap

To be a music legend u have to offer musicality and be diverse and creative artists like Eminem, B.o.B, Kid Cudi etc who not only rap but sing too, perform their own hooks singing them, produce, even sing in verses sometimes

Jay Z fan base is also 99% males

There has never been a pure rapper who is a hip-hop purists fave that will be a music legend and it will never happen

Rapping bars using very complex double entendres, word play, punchline, multi's, rhyme schemes, similies, metaphors about Mafiaso content just making words rhyme for a living is and never will be enough to be a music legend

He made American Gagster and WTT. From a music standpoint the niggas the goat. Ask your favorite rapper he'll tell you the same. Blueprint 3 was meh. And kingdom come wasn't as bad as some of you say it is. The nigga got two certified classics and two arguable classics. Blind hate aside sometimes you gotta give niggas credit when it's due.

Im not jayz fan but u dont kno shyt lil girl

GOAT? no i wouldn't call him that regardless

in fact he hasn't done much after black album to help his legacy, besides american gangsta, i'd almost argue he has sort of hurt his legacy with the weak albums except they are commercial successes

Had a spark when you started but now you just garbage. I go back and liste b to all jays old abums and i cant name one album he dropped that i can listen to front to back without skipping thrugh most of it jay is by far the most overrated apper of alltime all he did was swagger jack biggie style and rhymes

Yes. His albums after the black album are the only reasons why it's difficult to put him as a top 5 doa from an unbias standpoint. too much bad material

He debuted with a goat album, had a few solid albums and ended with a goat album. All while, enjoying an insane amount of mainstream success. He was also respected by both backpackers and mainstream fans.

you could have put that career against anyone in rap.

All the material he put out after black album ruined his legacy.

aside from eminem, none of those guys you mentioned will ever be considered hip hop legends, let alone be acknowledged as a music legend. Use better examples my nig. and maybe niggas will act like you know what the fuck you are talking about.

Hes in the discussion regardless. For me personally he woulda been higher if he stopped at the black album.

Either way his legacy is set in stone, and he is definitely in the discussion for GOAT.
