I don't know about "savior" but dude is one of my personal favorite MCs. He's a normal guy that talks about real life stuff that you can relate to.

The nigga aint a superthug but he's not a cupcake either. He's just like 90% of the niggas posting on here. Maybe you can say he doesn't have "star power" or "appeal" but he speaks to normal nigga life and it resonates. Niggas aint really out here doing what these other dudes are rapping about.

Cole is very basic as far as his sound and his lyrics but dude really is just getting started, let that nigga cook B. He doesn't do anything great but he does a lot of things good and he has plenty of time to grow.

He's not bad but... Cole our savior?

Anybody else notice that ever since White people started getting more involved and hands on with Hip Hop music that now everybody has something to say about how "wack" it's become?

People be tryin to come with all these rules and stipulations and limitations to what hip hop is. Meanwhile in the real world nobody cares about none of that nonsense and listen to Young money and 2 chains and all the other popular type songs they been listenin to. They wanna limit it but nobody cares and this nonsense "this is real hip hop, this is not" talk is relegated to the internet where nobody takes it serious either.

wasnt he supposed to "save" hip hop with his debut? foh with this article. dudes were saying the same shit before SLS dropped. When his album finally dropped all of his main panty throwerers were dissapointed by his boring production, weak hooks and below average lyricism. FUCK NO. he is not the savior. just another carbon copy cutout of what a rapper is supposed to look/sound like nowadays. no deep or game altering lyrics were on his debut. Every song was about a bitch. SLS was a love song album just like TC and TML but only way more wacker then those two. No hating but where is his mindblowing rhyme that made you fall in love with hip hop on that album. Illmatic was full of em. So was Infamous and Enter The 36 Chambers. Where is that rhyme that make you wanna pull your old notebook out on J Cole album? No no no. he not no fucking savior. you gotta come from the heart with this shit and Sideline story was shallow as fuck. All he basically rhymed about is fucking college bitches. Like 4 years from now alot of you niggas are going to be embarrassed to say yall were even cole fans. his subject matter is immature and non stimulating.

i dont understand niggas that need a savior of hip hop. the shit exists in your own heart. i dont need to look towards another man to save this culture. if you love hip hop then it lives everyday. its these old hypocrite motherfuckers who got the concept of hip hop all in dissarray. you dont want stellar lyricists because they are "rapping ass rappers". you dont want traditional hip hop production because its "dated" but when the tide is body of tired, un creative, rehashed, spur of the moment music that yall call "progressive" hip hop yall wanna bitch a moan and talk about the good ol days. nigga fuck yall. i dont know how usmarin3 can sit up here and even post up this article when his boyfriend running around calling himself the greatest. It speaks louder than words when you have a rapper worth so much money and brags about having so much power yet the culture that he derived from is in such a fucked up state. why should cole be trying to save hip hop? why Jay Z cant? he the goat right? dont look at nas. he only dropped 2 dope album in the last 2 years with intellectual commentary on every track. his shit is boring. if nas not rapping about how dumb his fans is for buying his music or drug ducktales from the 80s niggas is not going to check for him. hip hop dont need to be saved. grown ass men who jock a rapper because he's rich need to be saved

This post pretty much should've ended the discussion..but I like to see how far this will go, hopefully full of hilarity.

But these rappers all had a good enough understanding of their audience to maintain a balance. The music remained crowd-pleasingly funky, even whilst the lyrics could provide the basis for a thesis. Street kids could bump it in their car (apparently), whilst the detached intelligentsia could hail its 'rawness', 'dexterous wordplay', and 'haunting depictions of a low-income stratosphere trapped in a cycle of poverty'. And this is where much of the new breed (Drake, Kid Cudi, Wale, Kendrick Lamar) fall down. Never mind that modern 'pop rappers' wallow in neurotic self-doubt and desperate yearning for unrequited love, as though they're ghost-written by a particularly self-regarding teenage girl.

I fuck with J. Cole, but his album singles have been In The Morning with Drake, Can't Get Enough w/ Trey Songz, Work Out, and Nobody's Perfect...all songs that can be considered soft and directed at women or for teenage girls...

WHenever people say shit like this I wonder if ya'll know that white folks been involved with rap music for a while now...before 1999

Ya'll see Usmarin3 only wants to talk about sells. We get it, J Cole did numbers, he's now in the elite class with the likes of other recent success stories like Drake and Nicki Minaj?
