Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt Lil Wayne already save hip hop in like 2008 or is this shit like Presidency every 4 years we need saving.

How in the fuck did Wayne save hip hop? Wayne is garbage, so there's no way he saved hip hop.

Sarcasm

Cats call rappers "savior" all the time, but Cole gets called a "savior" and that's reason enough to dislike him?

Three words: Kendrick Lamar XXL. The savior of Hip-Hop has arrived! Kendrick Lamar along with Dr. Dre grace the cover of XXL’s 15th Anniversary edition coming out September.

Dr. Dre has an impecable track record when bringing us the new stars of hip hop. First it was Eminem, then it was 50 Cent…now it’s Kendrick Lamar!

This is a huge honor for Kendrick and as fans we love to see our boy succeed! He has just been spitting fire since his K.Dot days and has not been letting the new fame or pressure get to him.

So the real question is…who isn’t going to buy this magazine when it hits the newsstands? If you are true fan you will be there the moment they put this mag on the shelves!

Kendrick being Kendrick with his unique and baller apparel. Time to rock Kendrick Lamar Apparel and let everyone know you are supporting Hip-Hops next big star BEFORE everyone JUMPS on the bandwagon.

lol @ hip hop's last hope. seems like most of these new writers that write about hip hop have only been exposed to it like 6 months ago.

Drake is way better than Cole

Cole average as fuck with those mediocre songs on the radio

dude fucked up D4 even tho it wasnt much

dude dropped one of the wackest albums in a while

There are a lot of talented young mcs out there and Cole is definitely one of the pack, along with Kendrick, Krit, Nipsey, Los and even Wale, BOB and Drake etc. I was much more impressed with Cole's mixtapes than his official debut. He did remind me of new Nas before the Cole World album, when Nas first came out. But Kendrick outshines Cole on pretty much most things. Cole chose the mainstream/paper route for his debut, which I understand in this climate but I prefer his earlier stuff. Nas, with the Life is Good album, still the only mc 'saviour' of Hip Hop- mainstream album with underground vibe, balance, content, depth and cohesion.

Niggas really into KRIT

I like the nigga and all but all his shit sound the same for the most part

far as the thread, all ill say to that is no artist in his class has made a song as powerful as "Lost Ones" or "Killers"

I'd say Krit's Children of The World or The Vent and Wale's "Shades" rank up there as powerful ass song, especially "Shades"...that touched an often spoke about topic that got ignored

I'm pretty sure cole used to get alot of love on here but since sideline dropped it's been flipped.

He did, niggas hailed him as the anti-Drake who would save the rap game and eliminate all YMCMB type rappers...then they got mad when they realized J. Cole actually collab's with them, the reaction to In The Morning was fucking hilarious on here and the longer it took for him to prepare his album the more people thought "Well he didn't record it and drop it in 3 weeks, it must be terrible"

I can pretty much guarantee Drake being on his album was to diffuse any perceived beef between the two of them AND a label idea. Drake & Lil Wayne features are obligatory for labels these days.

In The Morning without Drake > with Drake.

In The Morning without Drake > with Drake.

*I meant mixtape by the way.

The media pushes stuff on people by blowing shit outta proportion. The "Drake/Cole" beef was one of those things. Before Friday Night Lights everybody was pushing for that light skin boi beef but oddly after In The Morning dropped all that disappeared....weird huh? Not really.

The term "savior" is wack. Cole showed that you can sell records without an over the top gimmick. That's a positive no matter how you cut it.

J. Cole, drake, Lamar, buddens and rich boy are the hope...niggas need to let that one fart line be gone...it was garbage but it shouldn't out shine the album

J.Cole is the definition of garbage. He claims to be a lyricist, but he raps the same way as the commercial dudes. Which one is it? Not to mention, when he "goes in" that shit is extra average i.e Who Dat.

I agree, I thought the whole attempt for J. Cole fans to get him to diss Drake was hilarious...hell I remember a thread on the IC with some angry ass J. Cole fans mad because they thought Drake's verse on "All Of The Lights" remix had a diss to J. Cole at the end of it....I don't even think the media tried to start that shit, that really was J. Cole's fans...
