For the idiots saying "they only carry the food" the cooks are usually paid a percentage of the tips or they're paid a proper wage if its an upscale location.
How does this do anything to change the fact that the waiters/waitresses don't cook the food that they carry to you?

Why should the food carriers get rewarded for simply delivering food that someone else cooked?

Think of it as you're paying the restaurant for the food and you're paying the waitress for his/her services (bring food to table, refill drinks, clear table, etc.). You actually go to restaurants for their food not for their service. No one says, lets go to this restaurant because they have good service, but the food is terrible. If you we're on a date and you and your date had to grab your own food and drinks and clear you're own table while everyone else in the restaurant chose the tipping waiter option I bet you would be happy to tip. People need to stop being proud of being ignorant.
Nah, this makes no sense.

If they don't deliver the food, I will not pay for it; if the tables were dirty, I would not eat there; and if they did not refill a drink that includes refills in the price, I would not pay for that either.

The same would apply to a dirty fast-food restaurant that doesn't give the food to their customers.

Their "service" is merely the means by which one receives the food/drinks they are paying for.

Waiters like to get tipped because it enables them to make $12+ an hour. If no one tipped and they made minimum wage, you would see a lot more Mexicans, and a lot less women carrying food around.

Who the fuck are you to just go somewhere and get and expect good service tho? That's part of the reason you choose to eat at certain places wether you want to acknowledge that or not. If the flip side was them treating you like shit and not serving you proper would you still fuck with the place?

You can't compare servers to people working at mcdonald's though. McD's workers are at least making minimum wage, server's make like $2.50 an hour BEFORE taxes.
Their compensation is between them and their employer b.

not really since just about every establishment pays the same dirt-low wages for servers.

I don't really care about "good service"; all I require is for them to give me the food/drinks I'm paying for.

If they don't give me the food/drinks that I'm there for, then I have no reason to pay.

I have nothing to do with that though. That's an agreement between the employer and the employee that decided to work there.

Otherwise, I'd have to go around supplementing everyone else's income, if I didn't think they're "paid enough".

Of course you care about the service. You expect your food cooked proper, presented proper, cooked timely, made how you asked. That's service and that service depends on the server and how theyre communicating with the cook and making sure its proper and moving quick to serve you. If none of those things are being done then you shouldn't tip. But that's basic at any sit down restaurant that isn't a McDonald's.

So, in this thread.

We're just going to go by what our society and culture tell us?

I forgot this is Grown and Sexy subforum, tho.

Nah. If the food is not cooked properly, I'm not paying for it; and if it takes too long, I'm leaving before they deliver it.

I don't give them any special requests, so all they need to do is cook the food as they normally do.

I'll send the food back if they fuck it up, just like how I'd send back fucked up food at a fast-food restaurant.

Nggas mock God, death, and evrything in between on this site, but when it comes to tipping...nggas turn into Spiderman's grandfolks n shyt.

It's a tough job? "Well life is harsh..." Nobody's linin up to give a lil extra to teachers...(Newsflash: many waiters make more than teachers)

We all grown as shyt, their job choice is not my burden. Tipping is a courtesy, not a requirement to ensure they live comfortably.

OK. You still care about the service.

I don't know why I'm arguing with the resident devils advocate anyway. If your moms said she loved you you would find a way to shit on her for it.

Only to the extent that I get what I pay for.

Same way I feel about any other thing I spend my money on.
