At the very least I'm usually cordial to the people who make my food because.......well I'm eating the food.

Being a generous customer (within reason) has its privileges as well if you plan on being a repeat customer. Also, people move around and they remember you. I've gotten in more than a few places and bumped people out their RSVP spots as well as extras at the last minute because I'm usually a good customer to deal with and people remember that.

Also, if I'm on a "date" and I paid for the meal I'd be surprised if she doesn't at least offer to pay the tip......even if I say "I got this" and pay it....or in this case "don't worry about it" lol.
