Not sure about that one, some of the Pharaohs, particularly Akhenaten were notorious for inbreeding. As a matter of fact Akhenaten was arguably one of the oddest looking pharaohs/humans. He had an extremely long head and somewhat distorted body. His physical appearance says alien before African or European. However, there were "Black"(Nubian) Pharaohs as well. A few years ago National Geographic ran a excellent article that I think was called "The Black Pharaohs" So there were actually African(Nubian) Pharaohs as well as Caucasian (Cleopatra).

If one goes to Egypt now and looks around he or she will see how Egyptians looked 4,000 years ago. Egypt has always been one of the most populate placed in the ancient world. While many people immigrated there no mass replacement event ever happened. The Arab 'invasion' was primarily cultural. It is somewhat absurd to think that a desert produced enough people to overwhelm such a massive population center as Egypt.

There is no real reason to believe that the people living in Egypt today look that much different than the people living in Egypt 4,000 years ago.

Well that could be entertained except for the fact that those desert dwellers migrated all throughout Northern Africa. Not just Egypt, proper. I doubt highly that Egypt looks the way it did 4000 years ago. Matter of fact, it wasn't just Arabs, there were a mix of many ethnic groups that repopulated that area. Berbers, Europeans and others. Cultural invasian shouldn't change the fact that you knew how to build a pyramid and no longer do. Knowledge and Learning is part of culture. You mix those people with the Arabs, and the other ethnic groups and I guarantee that Egypt didn't look like that 4000 years ago or before.

If you look at the Native America at the end of the nineteenth century and you look at them now there is a big difference in their appearance. And this is with just primarily European mixing in less than a few centuries, let alone all the migrating ethnic groups Egypt had to tend with.

I was reading Herodotus and his writings and the picture he gives of the Nubians and Egyptians is nowhere near what they currently look like.

Probably what happened is what happened to the Blacks who lived in the Arabian Peninsula, who now reside in Oman, Yemen and lower states like that. They were pushed down into Sudan and other areas.
