Word, I'm done. My fault. I love debating so I can't stop responding.
I'll drop it when I get off work.

Vol2, Vol3, Black Album have all gone past 3 mil, ya'll are too caught up in the first week. Consistency selling > first week selling.
And Jay's sales have consistently been right below the 2 mill mark over the past 6 years. That's what consistently I'm talking about. From that information I gather that Jay wouldn't easily move past the 2 million mark without the help of Samsung like some claim. That's the exact psychological game Jay-Z plays though. And this is the IC where logic is feelings when someone has a different on your favorite rapper that involved digging beyond the surface.
For the record Im not saying first week sales are more important than anything. Shit, Jay is the one who made it important by constantly bragging about #1 albums which are usually based on first week numbers.
I also find it funny though that Wayne's numbers get dismissed but when you say something about someone else it's perceived as discrediting.
again, bp3 dropped in 2009
Again, it took 4 years. Holy Grail will be double plat in less than 2 months.
Let's stop playing stupid.

nigga, what is your argument?
you went from jay doesn't have a double platinum album since his return (he has two which isn't bad out of four) to it took him 4 years for his last solo album to reach double platinum status
which is it?

The song explores Jay feelings about fatherhood and trying to sustain a marriage with a superstar Wife will juggling one of the biggest rap careers as well as mutiple business ventures. I can see why he needs a joint and 3 weeks at the hamptons, lol. The song samples Biggie from his Classic song "My Downfall". As he was eluding to his daughter and the film "Mommy Dearest".
Jay took it a step futher and sampled dialouge from the movie. Big was dealing with fears of success. Jay is dealing with fears of fatherhood. He even spliced in Biggie voice for a few seconds to the point it almost sounded like a duet. It was Errie and gave me chills but it worked perfectly. Also this song was Produced by Timbaland making it the 1st released Timbaland/Biggie callabo. How ever short it was good to hear Big over Tim. The Dramatic Beat is something I could see Big rapping over. But I gave the song 5 MICS in my review and weeks later I feel the same. Amazing song.
Jay-Z's chart-topping Magna Carta Holy Grail isn't just a personal triumph for the hip-hop baron. It's another victory lap for rap.
The genre is on a hot streak this summer.
Magna Carta sold 528,000 copies its first week, according to data from Nielsen SoundScan. For the first time, four different rap albums have consecutively held the No. 1 spot.
Kanye West's Yeezus was the first, followed by Wale's The Gifted and J. Cole's Born Sinner.
Magna, Jay-Z's 13th No. 1, extends the rapper's lead among solo artists for the most chart-topping albums. Among all artists, he ranks second behind The Beatles, who have 19, according to Billboard. Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen are third with 10 each.
Magna also set a record for the biggest first week ever on digital music service Spotify, with more than 14 million album streams.

LMFAO then what the fuck does Lil Wayne have to lean on them if not sales, it damn sure ain't classic albums or timeless music.
Quality music is the last thing i think of when i think of Wayne. When i think of quality music from this generation, Kanye West is the only person that pops in my head. Oh yeah, he consistently shits on Wayne sales wise too.
Fuck Lil Wayne. I dont give a fuck about Lil Wayne. Do you not get that my whole purpose when talking about sales is to show how irrelevant it is when indicating quality of music?? Popularity shouldn't determine how good an artist is.
If popularity doesn't determine how good an artist is, what does?
I always thought that is something is well liked, it generally means its good....
Form an opinion on the music itself, not external factors.
Reason I argue about sales is because I love business. Jay-Z is one of the most fascinating figures in hip hop when it comes to marketing, management and finance.
However I don't think sales are an indication of quality at all. Fuckin fat ass Adele who isn't talented last album sold 30 million copies. But if you wanna give a rapper props on their sales you should be consistent and fair to everyone. If we get to the business and psychological aspect of it we can say why a rapper sold what they sold. Most people are uninformed though.
