Talking bout Korean headquarters and countin hooks smh shit is pitiful

Plat in one day, deal with it son.

The Korean headquarter shit is a technicality. It's not that serious, just something that popped in my head.

As far as hooks, I just think Jay was real lazy on this album in that regard. Do you disagree? It's fair to say some of Jay's career success should be attributed to guest help more so than Drake or Wayne I think. But I'm just talking about this album.. Hooks being Jay's weak suit was kinda glaring.

But why is the argument just first week sales?

If you are going to argue sales look at the whole picture. Don't just take bits and pieces to create an argument.

I applaud consistency more than selling a high number than fizzling out. Selling a mill in a week is a crazy accomplishment for anyone but wouldn't selling consistently at a high number each week mean you're pretty popular?

If you are the 3rd highest selling rapper of all time then you are popular no matter how you slice it. The only two have sold more are Em and Pac and we both know how popular they are/were and Jay is 3rd, that's pretty good company.

I don't remember who Drake went against with TML but I know he released TC with Childish Gambino's "Camp".

Wouldn't Drake be doing the same thing you are accusing Jay of by releasing his album with inferior competition?

if there are other big names albums released on that day please offer some clarity but that definitely is the same scenario.

Buttuh I know why u mad bruh

Life Is Good, released July 2012, sales by February 2013: 354,000

MGHC, released July 4 2013, sales by July 17: 1,528,208

Well damn.

Samsung is just a Korean company though. It's not an American company headquartered in Korea. It's a Korean company. Just for clarification. It's the #1 brand in Asia.. Learned that in an International Business course.

You took an international business course to learn that fact?

Bruh, i learned that from an article on Forbes. Online.

No consistency is something to be applauded in itself. My only thing I'm saying is Jay never had the insane mania it requires to sell those type of numbers. If Drake dropped on the same day as Adele and he was #2 that just goes to show that his #2 would still have higher sales than Jay's #1. So when Jay reiterates the #1 shit over and over again people don't realize what it means.

Dog you see me having an intelligent argument over here with actual thought put into it. Don't come at me on some childish shit. I don't give a fuck about sales. Otherwise my top 5 wouldn't be Nas, Pac (yea he got sales), Rakim, Ghostface, Scarface. The reason I'm so passionate about it is because as I've stated, it bothers me that people use sales as a metric to gauge the quality of an artist's work, which I completely disagree with. I like Jay a lot more than Eminem but if we're using sales and popularity as an artist's worth than it's only fair to say Em is a superior artist. That's why the shit is such nonsense to me. I'm not actually mad because it doesn't affect me, so just like when yall get excited about an artist selling however many copies that you won't see a dollar from, it doesn't affect me when my favorite artist does't sell crazy numbers. However, I do want them to sell at least a decent amount so they can continue to get label funding to put out projects and it's nice hearing them on the radio.

No, it was bonus question on an exam. You read Forbes, I subscribe to Wallstreet Journal.

Only reason I said I learned that in a business class is because I'm sure some would assume I researched Samsung just because they did a deal with Jay, when that's not the case.

530k and people were actually hating on Jay for the Samsung deal. LOL. He did this with no single and announcing the album a month ago. He outsold "Yeezus" and "Born Sinner" almost combined. As I said, J Cole represented "Man", KanYe represented "Son" and Jay represented "God" as he dominated this on top of having the Million sales already locked in. So "Manga Carta" has a chance at 3x Platinum with potential singles like "Part II On the Run, Tom Ford, BBC, FWMUKIGT and Piccaso baby. The fact that Jay Z is still selling well past his 40's and still relevent even to the young kids today. It's crazy My cousin and his friends was visiting for the summer. They are age 18 and 19. They spent the whole weekend asking me about Jay Z history and past and how much they loved the album.

Jay appeals to a wide demographic of Hip Hop fans. Yes "Blueprint 3" took Jay more international than he probably ever been. You see "American Gangster" his most street LP in the vein of "Reasonable Doubt and Vol 1" was his lowest selling Post-Retirement Album. Kingdom Come went multi, BP3 went mulit and Magna Carta is headed to Multi in a few more weeks. Though the critics were mixed, it's clear the General Public has cosigned the album. People have been bumping it non stop since the 4th of July.

It's been the talk of social networking it's whole release. For Jay Z to go GOLD with no single and us just hearing a few beats is HISTORIC. Most people I've talked to just friends or casually that heard the album are telling me it's one of Jay's better albums. The critics are too focused on Jay's wealth and business deals, it's clouding them from the actual music. Jay was spitting on this and he had some subject matter that he normally doesn't get credit for. Overall Solid 4 MICS, Love the album. Refreshing to hear a quality artist in the Dark Ages of Hip Hop. Hov isn't going anywhere.

LOL at this dumbasss sales argument, yeah Wayne sold a mil in the first week twice but only one of his albums have gone past 3 mil in sales. Vol2, Vol3, Black Album have all gone past 3 mil, ya'll are too caught up in the first week. Consistency selling > first week selling.

And Jay's sales have consistently been right below the 2 mill mark over the past 6 years. That's what consistently I'm talking about. From that information I gather that Jay wouldn't easily move past the 2 million mark without the help of Samsung like some claim. That's the exact psychological game Jay-Z plays though. And this is the IC where logic is feelings when someone has a different on your favorite rapper that involved digging beyond the surface.

For the record Im not saying first week sales are more important than anything. Shit, Jay is the one who made it important by constantly bragging about #1 albums which are usually based on first week numbers.

I also find it funny though that Wayne's numbers get dismissed but when you say something about someone else it's perceived as discrediting.
