Without the federal government, we would only be paying state taxes, but states get help from the federal government cause state taxes ain't sufficient enough for a state to survive on. So if this shit does happen, we wouldn't pay federal taxes but state taxes would go up. If that happens I wonder if we will individually pay more or less in taxes.

And which state has enough income from sales tax and all other business related taxes to not need to increase taxes as much. Thinking about it that way, which state would be the best to live in?

California is bankrupt and has a water problem. They cant maintain growth without the Colorado River.

Texas has water problems also. They buy water from Louisiana. Especially this last drought. without water from Louisiana the states agriculture would have went bankrupt.

Ultimately it will come down to states with the infrastructure and access to shipping. No country has ever been a world power without a powerful Navy. So you can rule out any states without a coast line. Also there water source has to be self sustaining. Corporations will rule the country(state). So that eliminates most southern states outside of Florida, and Texas. Georgia has all but a reliable port. Savannah port share the river with South Carolina.

End the end, I will say four states will do well. New York (state), Texas, California, and Florida.

Other states will thrive off of there shipping and raw materials.
