Perspective is something else. I was working with a,client from mechanicsville in the A he was explaining their hood beef with another hood in the Pittsburgh Community. When you don't have shit you got to value something...so people value the "struggle" and the strength it takes to live in certain conditions and not have your spirit broken...to keep going everyday towards something better. That's why some people associate being from the hood with being strong. The circumstances force you to be in order to make it out.

The problem is the hood can also warp your sense of the world outside where you live and make you think that struggling financially is the only way to truly go through something in life to become a strong person. That's not true at all. I got homies that grew up in the suburbs that are more thorough in terms of being a stand up person than niggas I know who been in the hood their whole life and are weak as fuck. I know people who grew up in mansions that grew up with a crazier home life and parental situations than someone who grew up eating free lunch at school. It ain't always about how much had monetarily growing up it's also about what intangibles you didn't have too

But the thing is I didn't grow up with white people. The only white people I ever saw was teachers and cops. I know white people, but I don't consider them friends.

I say that to say this. The mentality of the hood dude and suburban dude is that y'all see the world as 1 big rainbow. We see the world as strictly black and white.

The whole point is to elevate. If your parents made it out and brought you up in the burbs....good.

You probably didn't have to **unlearn** a lot of funny (when looking back) in grained hood habits and thought processes as you got older and out in the world amongst all types of people.

But I personally would prefer to have my kids around and send my kids to a majority black school.

I don't want my black/mixed kids to be uncomfortable around black people. I've seen black people like that and it's sad.
