The moral of the story should be lets stop tearing down Black Men and Women who are trying. We don't have to agree with them 100%. Lets always remember every Black Man and Woman who has acted 100% on the behalf of Blacks in America and around the globe have had their character and credibility attacked.

The bold is true, but let's also remember that every movement that has acted on behalf of blacks have had snakes that threatened to tear those movements apart. So yes, we shouldn't tear down black men and women who are trying to do good, but we also shouldn't bash people who seek accountability and credibility from those that are taking on influential positions in the community. This should be common sense and I don't see why people are still arguing about this. Asking Umar about credentials because you want to deflect from his message is fuck shit. Asking Umar about his credentials because they relate directly to the expertise that he uses to back his message is only natural. Stop acting like his critics only fall into the first category.

There is no acting on my part. Anyone who was or is in this pool of distractions are exactly that. What's fuck shit is wasting peoples time with trivial BS.

can we talk about his message? or will that die along with his proof of credentials?

Yes.....

But, I'm not just going to keep repeating myself..

Along with my original statement when I was @'ed...

My point is that umar gets major publicity from controversy....

Maybe he wants to to fuel interest and funding...

Idk....

Creating a school is a drop in the bucket of water when confronted with the systematic oppression that he speaks of....

I know of several educational reformers that need support and are more directly active than Dr. Umar...

im not sure what your saying here...

are yoiu saying its harder than you think or easier than you think?

and what controversy did he create or cause?

So we gonna act like the interracial marrage comments don't grab headlines and clicks????

His comments on interracial marriage aren't the highlight of his discussions. Umar discusses a myriad of issues faced by the Black community which he most often correlates back to psychology. So, if anyone is acting it's you.

Before any of this interracial marriage talk it, was Umar degrees and his opinions on homosexuality which, he also addressed as a Dr. of Psychology. At this rate it doesn't matter if Umar is discussion wheat bread, someone will find a way for it to make headlines because, they don't agree with him or want proof of said, wheat bread.

You're confusing to me. I think you are sincere in your thoughtfulness on this matter, so I don't fault you for anything you say. However, if you understand that he correlates his arguments for how best to address black issues back to his understanding of psychology, why is it so hard for you to understand why many harp on his credentials when it comes to psychology. Again, I know there are haters who hate just to hate. We're not talking about them. We're talking about people who legitimately felt that before any thing Umar said could be taken seriously, he had to prove that he has the expertise to make the claims he makes.

You're confusing yourself.

Those questioning Umar didn't and don't care about his credentials not yesterday or today. They don't agree with Umar point Blank period. Questioning his degrees was a diversionary tactic and a way to attempt discredit Umar's professional analysis. Those who don't or didn't take Umar serious in the past won't take him serious now.

That's just untrue, and that's why I throw the fanboy term out. You basically just said that the only people who question Umar are haters. Go to the Reason, that's the logic the fanboys use. "You don't like rapper A because you're a hater." That line of thought isn't true there and it isn't true here.

All I can speak for is myself. I personally don't give a fuck about Umar right or wrong. Only the goals, principles, and ideas matter to me. I didn't really care that much about his credentials because I don't believe you need to have a PhD to have good ideas. However, I also understand that if a guy basically says "I know what I'm talking about because I have a doctorate," it is completely fair for some to say "Show me proof of that doctorate" if of course they have some reason to doubt him. Now that's where I step back from the discussion because I don't know why people started questioning it. I've never really felt that Umar didn't seem credible so I honestly don't know why people initially questioned him. However, I do know that him not showing those credentials and deading the discussion is part of why the drama went on for so long.

And once again, I ask the Umar followers what part of his message you want to discuss. Credit where its due, you cats have been saying from the start that that's what you want to discuss. So let's discuss, or are you content just to rub the noses of his detractors in the piece of paper he could have supplied years ago?

@The Lonious Monk his "degrees" are a moot point now, but like I told you earlier in this thread I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But let me ask you what part of his message do you have a problem with?

I've answered that question several times. I have a problem with him exaggerating the significance of miscegenation and attempting to discredit the positive work of black men just because they married outside of the race. I have a problem with him making the false statement that "no white person has ever fought against systematic white privilege." That's just from this video. In general, I don't have a problem with Umar's message as a whole. I just disagree with some of the finer points and some of the outlandish things he says to support his message.

And I understand that you gave him the benefit of the doubt, and that's cool. I just don't understand why you have such a problem with others not being as trusting.

Cut it out!!

Umar's way is Umar's way. Stop trying to shit on what he has going on.

How about you provide links to where people can donate or support all of these great people you seem to know?

I am tired of repeating myself to you....

Challenging his credentials was not shitting on him.....

I have moved on....

You can't read.....

And schools are more than just a one man effort....

It takes a team of dedicated professionals to pull this off....

Now, that's real ether, not the bullshit everyone talking about. I might have to move, my seed will need to go to a Pan-Africanist school.

if only 1 black inner city child dies a day due to gun violence or gang violence....seven died within the span of this discussion about who can help innercity kids or whos qualified to do so.

7

we talked about this for 7 days.

7 mothers who wont be with there kids because of a piece of paper.

yes he said hes a doctor and didnt prove it outright...but now what?

what if those kids could have gotten help from one of the people this man could have reached...or put someone in a different place and another chain of events would have happened.

those very rich people on the news and who shitted on him for so long should now be sued for defamation and participating in an ongoing criminal conspiracy.

because thats what i see happening.

and whoever was contacted at those colleges...should be fired. they could have cost this man income and potential black lives.

What is the bold? He never discredited the work of black men that married outside of their race, he said he can't fully respect a black man that marries outside of their race, that doesn't mean the work is discredited in his eyes. I disagree with that like you do but I see where he is coming from. He said systemically white people has never fought against white privilege sand white supremacy, he did acknowledge that individually whites have fought against those things.

It doesn't matter now it's a moot point.

Y'all can't be this dumb when it comes to this. As if there is actually something wrong with wanting someone who is involving themselves in education to actually be educated on the shit they're talking about. What a horrible thing to ask of someone

It's okay, you were wrong own it and move on.

I have no problem admitting I'm wrong when it happens. I never said Umar didn't have his PHD. I said if he does he should prove it to dead the questions and that there's nothing wrong wanting someone who wants to start a school to actually have the credentials they say they do. You and others seem to have a comprehension problem when it comes to that simple idea though.

I never really cared about the phd thing. My issue was his messages not making sense in a lot of situations and not being practical. That said He has had the off the wall stances then he had another video I happened to see which was a message to kids entering college age which made a lot of sense. I can tell when something doesn't make sense and does and that can come from the same person.

Exactly. Niggas acting like you got to hang on his every word and any disagreement is trying to tear him down. Nah...its trying to make sure he is actually speaking from a solid foundation. Niggas so quick to bash the church for indoctrinating people to just accept and donate hard earned money without question yet here they are actually encouraging it

Miscegenation is just race mixing. And he did discredit their work. He said any black man that marries outside of his race would have a hard time gaining his respect and it doesn't matter what they do, they can't be down for the black community if they don't marry a black woman. That's discrediting their work and their commitment to the community. On top of that, he made extremely broad generalization that ever black man who marries a white woman is doing so because he thinks that proximity to white skin will raise him up. That's just plain wrong, and the fact that he feels the need to make ridiculous statements like that takes away from his message IMO.

Its not an L because both require a good amount of work to be put in scholastically but there is a difference between the 2. They're similar but not the same. A PHD is based in research and requiresa dissertation and a clerkship. A PsyD requires a clinical project

Yeah because thats one of those things he says that doesnt make sense on a lot of levels. First off people marry people not colors. What does color have to do with it? Also thats just feeding into the European "racial" ideas. He's going by the racist Europesn standards of who is black or white what is black and white. there are too many factors. On and on. So thats a contradiction because like with a lot of his messages he actually just reinforces European and racist ideals. But in a convoluted way. This is where people say he speaks a lot of things that dont make sense. There is a lot that just has to do with the fact we live in the society we live in, that what he says doesnt coincide with that actual realities. So thats some of those things when people talk about his messages.
