the rebith of ****

what the **** is happening to the state of rap music today?! whatever

happenend to the days when rap music was a slamm'n beat that you could

kick yer head to. i'm sick of hearing these weak ass "jazz" beats with say

nothing lyrics. bring back the funky drummer beat. and lose those silly

french jazz beats.

ROFL im in tears right now, people consider that the automatic standard for good hip hop nowadays...

Really great thread, learning a lot...............

Tupac's lung removed: will he ever rap again?

Damn, damn, damn! Stoopid fools. Because of stoopid clowns, Pac is
fighting for his life and has his whole career threatened. The guy has
lost a lung? How the **** can you rap with one lung? I hope they catch
the bastards. I really hope for that this is not coast related, because
then the west coast privilleges of Nas, Mobb Deep, Chino, Biggie, Foxxy,
Puffy would be forever suspended. Knowing Suge, I know somebody's cap's
about to get peeled. What a ****ing tragedy.

Shit is like reading a letter from the Titanic, niggas get roasted if the they talk like that nowadays.........
Nice to know after all the different opinions we all got on here, only a few of us will actually be right about the artists we like, and where they stand all time

1. Why is it that every wack R&B single has to be remixed

with a rapper dropping one verse?

2. Why does everyone wanna be on some mafia type shit? 95%

of these rappers have never past or present been "gettin'

keys from overseas..." Hearing all these bullshit lyrics

make me feel like maybe I'm the only one who isn't rockin'

my newest Versacci gear in my Lex 300GS. Come on now, that

shit's far from tangible for any typical head out there.

Junior MAFIA, wack. Lil' Kim got skillz on the mic and

looks fly as hell, but come on now. Do you really think she

totes a gat and does stick ups?

3. Oh and if you're not with a crime family, you gotta be a

player. 40's, bitches, blunts...

4. Too many people on Wu-Tang's dick. Get off it. There's

more to hip-hop than Wu-Tang. And they have definitely not

"kept it real" since the first joint. Rae and Ghost ain't

no crime bosses.

5. I hate to even get into that east/west shit, but did you

see Cube on the new Source cover? Tell me he did not have a

gold west coast charm swingin' from his neck w/ both of his

hands doin' that west coast symbol thing. Damn, he

should've quitted while he was ahead in the game.

1. Tribe's dropping. Perfect example of not going

commercial album after album. Shit's gonna be the bomb and

I can guarantee Q-Tip won't be a wannabe Don chillin' with

John Gotti...

2. Goodie Mob still to drop another single. The album was

on some reality and positivity shit. We need more of that.

3. Can someone say Fab-5?

4. Rappers are coming from everywhere, nevermind east/west

coasts. If they got skillz, they're gettin' a contract.

Ist't it ironic? The West Coast stormed into the 90's with what was

labeled as "gangsta rap". The East Coast couldn't take it. The NWA's and

Ice-T's were outselling the BDP's and Public Enemy's. On the East Coast,

everyone agreed that gangsta rap was going to be the death of rap. That

the West Coast was going to ruin it for everyone. Well, now the shoe is

on the other foot. Gangsta rap is dead and now the East Cost has now

adapted what is called "Mafioso". *****s wanna be Italian of Colombian

now. It is all about the almighty dollar. Nas Escobar. Being black

isn't good enough. Brothers are rapping about rollin with cocaine dealers

and sportin' Versace and sipping Alize instead of kicking knowledge and

biggin' up Karl Kani(a brother who can his brothers support). The saddest

thing of all is Mafioso has sucked in top notch talent such as Nas, Jay-Z,

AZ, Foxxy Brown, and the notorious B.I.G. I don't know who to point the

blame at but who he or they are, they have helped to infect hip-hop with

the notion the it is better to be Italian than African-American and it

started in the East. Isn't it ironic? Post or E-mail me your comments

Brooklyn based rap star, Jay-Z astounded fans and foes alike when he announced his plans to sue rival rapper Nas for libelous comments made last year. The two artists had been feuding through out the later part of 2001. The battle culminated in Nas's release of the Stillmatic album and the song Ether, which made several references negatively portraying Jay-Z as a homosexual and threatening anti-gay violence. Homophobia and gay discrimination, which has ravaged hip-hop in recent years, will be a partial basis for the suit says Jay-Z's lawyer, Mathew Winters. In addition, Jay-Z is claiming career and lifestyle damage. From 98-2001, Soundscan and the Billboard Top 40 established Jay as the music industry's top rapper. But sales of his records and Rocawear clothing line were down almost 40% in 2002. Nas on the other hand has boasted increased publicity and platinum sales in the last year. Jay-Z's legal team is claiming that Nas not only intended to damage Jay's career but also to launch his own off defaming statements. The hip-hop world has already responded with shock. Haitian rapper/singer Wyclef Jean responded saying, "Battling is the essence of hip-hop, it's been its basis for years." He went on to say, "Hip-hop started with battles in the park. What [ Jay-Z ] is doing with his suit is ridiculous and is further [evidence] that hip-hop is dying as an art form". Ridiculous or not, Jay-Z's suit is unprecedented and will undoubtedly usher in a new era of lawsuits." Paul Vaugner Associated Press

After the Soul Train Music Award, E-40 pre-hired gunmen to kill Biggy, just because Biggy didn't apologize for using E-40's background Music and Beat on his past/new albums.

I've talked with E-40 many times in Oakland, and he always talked about how fun it would be to kill a poor Biggy.

Don't you **** with E-40 no how, he ain't no good.

He ain't no gangster,,, but a serial killer.

Didnt Magic sign a 25 million dollar contract for 25 years? Thats how much MJ

made in 97 with the bulls. It's scary that Lil Wayne is only 16 years old, is

he the future for hip-hop or will he fade like Kriss Kross.

SUBJECT FOR DEBATE: HOW MUCH IS B.I.G. PAYING THOSE FINE SISTAS???!!

I've just finished watching three straight videos in a row ("Big Poppa", "Warning", and "Give It To Ya") which either feature or have a cameo appearance by the Notorious B.I.G. In each video, B.I.G. has some FLY honeys on his tip (although I think homegirl on "Big Poppa" got a little mustache thing going on there) and I'm wondering, "Just how much is dude payin' these sistas??" Seriously, y'all, I mean looks aren't everything, I know this. Hell, as I've mentioned before, I'm only 5'2", 100 + pounds (but hey, I'm drinking milk now and I GET'S MINE!!! =) ), but. . .ummmm. . .how can I put this? Um, B.I.G. look kinda raw up there. He looks unhealthy. Yeah, that's it, UNHEALTHY. Dude already looks like he can't breath and you KNOW he smokes mad weed. So, maybe one or two of them sistas is up there because they actually LIKE this big man, but some of them are trying to get PAID. Look, here's the point I'm trying to get at. I don't understand how these sistas would play themselves out like that. I mean, in any video where a brother (not just B.I.G.) is supposed to be macking all these women. That's just foul. I might be taking this a little too literally (as I probably doing this whole R & B/hip hop blending trend), but you have to understand, I have the utmost respect for sistas out there and I don't know why SOME of them continue to play themselves like that just to get a little television exposure. I mean, cool, be in the video, but just like dance or something like the brothers be doing. You know what I mean? You don't have to be all over these brothers just to get on. Especially B.I.G. My man is hurting. And that's my little spark for debate today. Props to FLASH for getting me in the mood with his "Deep Thoughts". More of us should do stuff like this, 'cause seriously, the two newsgroups (alt.rap, rec.music.hip-hop) are starting to go down a little. Discuss! PEACE AND P'S, Y'ALL!!
