LOL man I was not on the internet at that time, 1993. Shit I was in the Persian Gulf at that time, we barely was watching T.V., I lost :( but on the sidenote, we were getting that fire ass hip hop back then, when those NYC mixtapes were getting sent to our ship via dudes that had homies in NYC and mailing them to us.

Subject: Websters -> Rap is NOT music
Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author
The one aspect of rap listeners that I could never figure out
is why they so doggedly insist that rap is a form of music.
NO ONE can convince me that rap is music. There is no functional
merit to it whatsoever, except maybe for a catharsis of frustrated
would-be musicians. As proof, see Webster's Ninth collegiate
dictionary:
rap n. 1. a sharp blow or knock ; slang, criminal charge or prison
sentence. 2. to talk freely and frankly.
The very word implies that rap is only talk set to mindless drum
beat, and cannot be classified as music. Beastie Boys or no, rap
does not qualify as music because it does not satisfy the requirements
for a piece of musical composition. You can't just call it music
because there happens to be a constantly repetitive, all-too-often
unoriginal musical phrase in it, which often consists of only one
note. And they call this *music*!
To say that rap is music is like saying that the WWF is a valid
competitive sport! Any yutz who can't wrestle can just gain 300 pounds
and get into the WWF, same as anyone with a modicum of rhythm and
an obnoxious voice can rap, even though they are almost-but-not-
entirely devoid of talent.
Hell, it doesn't matter, rap is going the "disco route" in a year or
so anyway, and we won't have to endure it for another 15 years when it
makes one of those unwarranted and improbable comebacks, not unlike
bell bottoms and Meat Loaf. The rest of us will be able to relax when
rap is dead, Dead, D-E-A-D!
Bill.

Just click the link. It's safe. Also you can hover your mouse over it and look at the site it's going to take you to to verify it. Finally, you can right-click it and select copy link location or whatever it says and paste it into your address bar.

It's just a link. That's how the web works - you click links.

" That's right! That bitch got shot again. This time he got shot 5x
and his right lung has been removed. Now he has 1 nut and 1 lung. Good
for his punk ASS. I can see it already comin'. 1000 messages all callin'
me a playa hata. Find a new phrase. That **** is played out. I was using
the term playa in grade school."

"I kind of hate that Tupac survived this latest round of shooting......
Not thatt I want him dead or anything.... I just know a few months
from now he's gonna be talkin more stuff about Bad boy tryin to kill
him on his next single.... He's also gonna brag that he took 4 more
shots and still survived.. that he's invincible... just like in 'Hit
em Up'....."

Wooow. But lol @ the use of "playa hata" back in 95-96. Shit was hilarious.

Aint it funny tho how ppl said the EXACT same thing back then that ppl say now?

Im reading a DMX hate thread from 98 and some nigga was like "stop hatin DMX album sold records and he making money" and then dude replied sayin "i hate when ppl say that. it so manufactured..ppl always say stop hatin stop hatin" etc etc.

its creepy as hell cuz i honestly thought things had changed at least a lil bit but things is exactly the same only difference is the talent was better then.

this shit is funny because i was in my 20's back then and those the type of conversations we had back then. 20 years from now some of yall's kids gonna look back and laugh at yall's taste in music. Especially when they read how some of yall like Gucci, Waka, Soulja and Lil B. Nas is gonna get the KRS treatment. Kids gonna be calling him wack and yall gonna be saying how dope his music was

if anything it should be an indication to yall that shit really don't change much. Even back then nigaas were complaining about how music aint the same as it was 'back in the day'. Now we in the 2000's and niggas always talk about how much doper mucis was in the 90's. when yall become old heads yall gonna be talking about how terrible music is and how it was better in the 2000s. niggas don't see it now but you're gonna be the old heads still banging the Black Album and shakin your heads at shorties thinking MC 2030 is the shit LOL

What is a G???? It can mean anything???

But this person want to know what it meant in Dre's video "Nuthin' but
a G thang". Well in this laid back song, a G is a gangster who is like
Snoop Dogg's personality. Cuz he has said that song is loosely base
on his experience growing up in Long Beach California.

But what is a G for real. A homeboy who doesn't try to front and is
real with himself and everybody else that he deal with.

But can a woman be a G also. Especially a Gangster Bitch - cuz personally
I be like to anybody regardless of sex " Whatzzzzup G!" Yet some of
my homeboyz tell me that shit is weak to call a woman G. So I tell them
go fuck themselves - cuz it ain't nuthing but a word!

So I think in Dre's song - A G is a gangster who is real with themselves.

Peace
Dat Deaf Chronic G from da East Coast still puffin' on a Roach!

4. Brother Jay
3. Redman
2. Chuck D

without a doubt, the top 5 rappers alive are as follows:
5) Lord Finesse (metaphors)
4) Ice Cube (street knowledge)
3) Chuck D. (politics)
2) The Guru (poetry)
1) Rakim (...just damn good.)
...........................................

Ok. Heres my top 5 (not in any order)
KRS1

The Guru
Chuck D
Big Daddy Kane

My 2 cents for the top 5 are:

5) Lord Finesse (his punchlines and metaphors make him almost unbeatable)
4) Treach (Definite mad skills, the future of underground Hip Hop)
3) KRS One (Innovative, dope, straight raw... more versatile [politically or
just catchin' wreck] than just about anyone)
2) Kool G Rap (never ceases to amaze me with his lyric content and style.)
1) Rakim ("Lyrics of Fury", "The Punisher", "Run For Cover", "Check Out My
Melody"... need I say more?)

Serious runner-ups: Big Daddy Kane, The Guru, Ice T ("Gotta Lotta Love"
not withstanding), Percee P, Ice Cube, and the Large Professor.
Peace.

Some of yall didn't think we talked about GOAT back then but we definately did.

Hey White Boys,

I see some of you are still on this newsgroup. My organization, Brothers

Only, are systematically eradicating all white presence in hip hop on

the internet. www.truehiphop.com/atak is virtually inoperative and we

have almost totally closed it down. All the rest of you better watch

out. I have the support of artists such as Lord Jamar, Paris, MC Ren,

K-Rino, Maestro Fresh Wes, Schoolly D and even 'the artist formerly

known as - Prince'. That's right - We have basically had enough of the

white bastardisation of OUR music and style. It has to and WILL end !!!!

Sean Flynn, Paul Gembus, Sole and the rest, watch out palefaces. All you

punk albinos can go to alt.whitepower or some BS like that and discuss

how 'real', 'underground', 'true to the music' y'all think you are.

Truth is, you don't really understand or know jack about the nubian

language - hip hop !!!! All you know is commercial ass BS like 2Pac - he

never gave a goddamn about whites anyway !!!! As for all the so called

'underground' artists - they all get pushed into the mainstream by you

boys. Isn't it curious how y'all talk about Eminem all the damn time

!!!!! You know why don't you - he's white. Y'all have a caucus mountain

god to idolize now. All of y'all must be wettin' yourselves about him.

Wait till he goes mainstream - of course y'all will start pretending

like you never liked him - cause your too underground or whatever. Oh

please !!!! Go back and listen to Nirvana, Garth Brooks or whatever is

big in your white world these days. [/i]

Subject: Quit Dissin' Vanilla Ice

Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author

I would have to say by now that just about everyone out there realizes that

Vanilla Ice is a fake, phony, *****, etc......

However, I'm gettin' sick of seein' people dis' him. Basically, people dis'

him because he's successful and their jealous.

1.> Ice, Ice Baby was No. 1 longer than any other rap song EVER

2.> He can dance probably better than most any other person out there

3.> He gets more girls than we can even imagine

4.> He's a professional water-skier/motorcycle racer

5.> He's worth millions......was on Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous

With all of these, people still choose to dis' him. Wake up!

"Vanilla Ice is sellin', and you people are buyin'........."

ICE-CUBE CONCERT

Has anyone seen the Ice Cube tour? I just saw him last Thursday

in Rochester, NY, and it was probably the best rep concert I have ever

been to.

The show started with a 15min set from Rochester's own, KMC. Nobody

really seemed to care that they were on stage, anyway. Then WC AND MAAD

CIRCLE performed for about 20min. They are reletively new so the crowd

still wasn't that involved. Then DEL came out for about 30min and rocked

the house. But it just kept getting better with LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL

(Busta' Rhymes is somethin' else!) and with BLACK SHEEP! When they did

"the choice is yours" the house came down. And finally (YOYO was sick)

Cube entered Gangsta style and did everything from "***** you love to hate"

to "how to survive in S.Central" to "jackin for beats".

The funniest part of the show was that he had tombstones on stage

that read "NWA", "EASY-E", etc. And in the hallways there were murals

with had drawn pictures of NWA with captions like, under EASY: maggot

turned ***got. And so on.

The most disturbing part of the concert was that you could get

you picture taken with a cardboard cutout of Cube (looking like a hood)

while you hold an UZI at the camera. DEL seemed to encourage

drug use by telling people to smoke Buddha and lowering a giant joint

from the roof.

you can tell this guy was some nerdy white kid who got into hip hop because it was rebellious

Lol word ^.

But my mans DMX used to get bashed ALOT there. Prolly cuz of the 2pac comparisons (which i heavily disagree with. fan of both tho.) back then.

It's just hilarious how everything was about selling out. Every lil thing they did ppl screamed out "sell out". Shit just tells us how things really havent changed, just that internet has a bigger impact and influence now.
