What if your family didn't like your girl/wife? Are you leaving her? I don't think staying with someone your family doesn't like is "cutting them off", Its making your OWN decision to be with the person YOU want to be with. If they were being rude and disrespectful and making her uncomfortable when she came around, he should've "cut them off". When you become an adult and create your own family, they become priority.

And lets be honest, some of these families hate the girl b/c they don't want him spending his money on anyone else but them. I know someone on the same team as Kobe whose family takes advantage of him, and he allows it.

A prenup protects you when you have assets BEFORE marriage, since Kobe acquired most of his net worth during his marriage to Vanessa, prenup or not Vanessa is getting paid.

Bottom line: Kobe didn't have $150 million before marriage, but he did acquire $150m during his 10.5 year marriage to Vanessa, so they are splitting that $150m.
