It don't work that way. The person still gets to pick the lawyer of their choice. Its just at the end the of the settlement you can ask the judge to make the other person pay for your legal fees.
In the most simplest way she s saying that she gave her lawyer power to negotiate on her behalf and the lawyer told her the 5 million was the best he can get for her.....when another lawyer told her hey based on these number u could ve gotten way more. ....so legally she can sue her attorney for malpractice and then petition to have the judge reopen the initial case....

Kobe stood to lose half of his fortune if his divorce would of gone through. Plus he would of had to pay child support and probably alimony. Not to mention the fact the chick has strained the relationship with his parents and took care of her family with his money.
