Tom Ford is an openly gay fashion designer, this is the guy u named ur song after, somewhere Larry Johnson (no pun intended) is throwing up the ROC.....

But after all on this album this is Jay-z only time that he's dropping jewels, trying at least

this is what bothers me ... this dude stays giving reference to these white ppl

tom ford

picasso

even the title is on some europe shit

.... it starting to be too white for me lol

The man is referencing one of the greatest fashion designers and painters ever, who do you suggest he address when drawing reference or comparison?

Only simple minds break shit down to race, talent is talent period. I'm sure black artist and designers (Karl Kani and Basquiat) would tell you they were influenced by their white counterparts.

I suggest niggas bump this album on a good system or leave your basement and go to a club. No way is this album average, unless you were looking for something else (RD or BP sound). The album knocks, heard it in a couple of bars last night.

I'm guilty of this. It's not the hardcore hiphop album we'd hear from someone like Nas or Cole, but it definitely has its highlights. I just sometimes wish Jay would just flow without the gimmicks, you know just spit like he did on RD or even TBA. Especially over these dope beats he got this time around. His word play combined with his traditional flow? This album would have been universally classic as soon as it dropped. No question. Even the commercial crowd would dig it, just off the beats alone.

I'll be the first to admit Jay-z isn't as great of ''raw'' lyricist as he was back in the day, but he is a ''way'' better artist now than he is ever been. To me for what he lost in lyrics and wordplay he gain in constructing songs and opening up content wise, 15 years ago Jay wouldn't talk about fears being a father or shit like that. I think heads need to get over that Reasonable Doubt box they try to put dude in, because it's clear he's evolved pass that era.

Jay still drop those subtle lines here and there, he just doesn't stack those double entendres like he use to now that he is focusing on trying to express an emotion through the songs.

BBC is a black owned clothing company tho ....

All the basquiat references?

Y'all niggas love to complain is what i see

so do you really wanna do this. you really wanna sit down and add up all the references to white culture and business then compare it to the black references??

it wont take long LOL

im not even complaining. i just expressed that it bothers me. not everyone takes everything on face value because their scared some witty jay z line may be direct at them

see this is that victim of white supremacy shit

this dumb nigga said karl kani was a great fashion designer?? LOL

nigga you cant even NAME a black painter from who lived at the time of piccasso to even compare who was greater. you just see white ppl celebrating him so you by default consider him great. like yall niggas know some shit about art LOL. who was picasso's teacher?? tell us that.

furthermore, tom ford didnt even start gucci or what ever it was, he just saved the brand... thats like saying jay z started def jam lol or is the greatest artist because of the albums he made while there.

the reason why its not simple minded to break shit down to race is because historically whites have a long track record of stealing shit and claiming that they originated it. only a simple mind would actually try to equate two completely different cultures and backgrounds. music aint music just because instruments are vibrating and niggas are singing. there is black music and then there is that shit justin timberlake is belting out at the beginning of the album. big difference

As I said in my review. Jay Z and Timbaland has been making music since 98. Here is their full discography together. Tell me they don't have an amazing chemistry:

1. N!gga What, N!gga Who - Jay Z featuring Amil

2. Paper Chase - Jay Z featuring Foxy

3. Lobster and Scrimp - Timbaland Featuring Jay Z

4. It's Hot (Some Like It Hot)

5. Snoopy Track - Jay Z featuring Juvinille

6. Big Pimpin - Jay Z featuring UGK

7. Come and Get Me

8. Is That You B!tch - Jay Z featuring Missy and Twista

9. Is That You Chick - Memphis Bleek featuring Jay Z, Missy and Twista

10. Hey Papi - Jay Z Featuring Memphis Bleek and Amil

11. One Minute Man Remix - Missy featuring Jay Z

12. Hola Hovito

13. Party People - Timbaland and Magoo featuring Jay Z and Twista

14. Count It Off - Ms Jade featuring Jay Z

15. Back In the Day - Missy featuring Jay Z

16. What They Gonna Do - Jay Z Featuring Sean Paul

17. The Bounce - Jay Z Featuring KanYe West

18. Dirt of your Shoulders

19. Wake Up - Missy featuring Jay Z

20. Give It To Me (Laugh at em Remix) Timbaland featuring Jay Z and Justin Timbalake

21. Off That - Jay Z Featuring Drake

22. Reminder

23. Venus Vs Mars

24. Ghetto Techno

With the "Magna Carta" songs. Timbaland and Jay Z have worked on over 40 songs that's not counting songs that weren't released.

From watching that Timbaland interview, i think he leaked those songs on BP3 and him and Jay fell out. From what i remember he was trying to get one of his songs as a single and Jay wasn't putting one out.

Actually the fallout was about Jay not being on "Shock Value II" on time. Tim felt Jay was taking too long to give him a verse and he needed one quickly. Jay felt Tim should of understood he was busy but Tim felt Jay should of made time. Here are possible singles for the album:

Oceans - I mean come on this song screams video and single

BBC - Perfect for the summer and clubs

Part II On The Run - The 80's vibe, Jay and Bey it could be a hit

Tom Ford - Only for the clubs

Yeah..this is what I've been saying for a minute now and trying to get use to him being more of a songwriter than a raw Hip Hop lyricist. He'll still do those slick lines every now and then...but my raw Hip Hop insight tell me like it's being used as an excuse for him to go half assed..

It's a struggling battle but fuck it..I like to fish through the lines to find those double meanings. That's what keeps it Hip Hop for me (imo).
