When I checked last year it was still at about 1.8 three years after the release. But it's easy for him to go double plat without Samsung. He woulda moved 1.5 M first week with or without Samsung, even though it's triple his first week average and he didn't have any singles.

But you right, Em ain't the only rapper who outsells Jay consistently. Wayne and Drake do this routinely as well.

Nothing Was the Same in stores September 17th!

Tell me where Samsung is headquartered.

Tell me where sales are based from which RIAA awards plaques.

It's not a coincidence you're a Jigga Warrior.

2 times= routinely now?

Yeah his last album to go multi was 10 years ago. So you're omitting about half of his career.

And don't ever compare Drake to Jay-Z.. first off Drake's last album did 700 out the gate. Second - he has the most #1 rap songs in the history of hip hop in a very short time. It took Jay a long ass time to reach that level and he still ain't fuckin with Drake in that arena. Third, Drake does his own hooks and doesn't need popular guest appearances or Annie to make a hit record. How many hooks did Jay do on Magna Carta b? No really, answer that. Tom Ford???? Twerk Miley Twerk????

Ain't nobody trying to discredit Jay but I'm an accountant and when you running around yelling this numbers don't like fuck shit and not considering the circumstances and then use these statistics to back up your argument of artistic ability and quality is when I get mad because I love music. And then yall turn around and say that Em or Wayne's sales don't mean anything when they did it the hard way. Can you really say this accomplishment compares to other artists who had greater impact?

Yall say dumb shit like yeah, Jay woulda sold a million anyway disregarding the fact that majority of those Samsung users wouldn't have purchased the album evidenced by his sales patterns since retirement.

And I ain't even started talking about music yet.

That's facts only and if any of yall ready to refute it we can get to it.

Hate to burst your bubble there but it hasn't exactly been "routinely".

Doing some research on wiki, jay has been selling at least over 300k first week since vol 2 (couldn't find what vol 1 and RD sold first week).

wayne on the other hand, hasn't broken 300k first week on any of his albums besides Carter 3 and Carter 4. That's 2 out of 10 albums.

now drake is a bit better. his first album fell into jay's typical sales range for first week, with 400-something k. but his second album was much better, selling 631k which was more than every jay album besides Kingdom Come (that sold 680k if anyone's wondering). not bad for his second album, and i've got a feeling this next one will sell even more.

When I say routinely I'm talking about post-retirement Jay obviously. Drake's album underperformed relative to the hype. C3 and C4 are Wayne's only real album albums. Wayne took a true artistic risk with Rebirth and didn't promote it to anyone other than his core fans.. IANAHB was an EP with no promotion while he was in jail. I will give you IANAHBII. But yea, pretty much these guys can shit on Jay sales wise if they want along with Kanye if he felt like going an orthadox route. His last two albums had minimal traditional promotion and didn't cater to the radio.

I'm not shocked Jay is moving almost 600 first week (which I predicted, ask @BlackGerald) which deviates from his normal numbers because Samsung promoted the shit out of it and there was great anticipation from idiotic fans who are blind to the fact that Jay is a shell of his former self.

BP3 dropped in 2009

where's drake's 5 times platinum record? where is drakes 13 number 1 albums? i can play that game too bruh. commercially successful rappers are basically chasing jay's records while jay is still competing with them.

if drake keep putting up 400,000-600,000 first week numbers and back to back platinum records he can be compared to jay-z who has done that exact same shit consistently. thats my point. i said clearly in THAT aspect he's comparable to jay-z. you here talking about their talent, strengths and weaknesses while im comparing their commercial success

"C3 and C4 are Wayne's only real album albums." lol nah that excuse is such bullshit.

do you consider 808's and Yeezus as Kanye's "real album albums". those are artistic risks as well.

and shit, rebirth has a hell of a lot of rapping for a rock album. most of that was just rapping over rock inspired beats imo.

In that aspect Drake is far above Jay. If you wanna talk about first two albums post Jay's first week numbers from his first two albums. Also like I stated, Drake's debut numbers aren't even indicative of the buzz Drake had when he first emerged due to a leak. Unfortunately for Drake he wasn't around during the late 90's and early 2000's where it was easy to do numbers or I'm sure Take Care would be 5x plat based on how the singles performed on the charts. He had mad top 10 billboard hits. So it sounds like you're underestimating what Drake will do. He's a bigger artist right now than Jay ever was at any point in his career. They was comparing Drake's original buzz to 50 Cent. Come on now b.

13 #1 albums means you timed your release week well. His toughest competition was Stankonia. Who did he go against in the debut of MCHG? 3 week old album of J. Cole? Who did BP3 go against? Fucking Raekwon? I don't give a fuck about a #1 album. It doesn't tell me enough. But I give him props on consistency.

If you read my post I said that if Kanye dropped traditional albums that he cared about sales with he would easily outperform Jay just like Wayne could.

Jay and 50 are the two rappers who care most about and guard their statistics. It's clear. But to be fair, I think Jay took a chance with American Gangster as it wasn't commercially friendly. Coincidentally, it was one of his better albums.

See that's the thing. I'm actually being objective but y'all fail to realize it.

Lil Wayne does not outsell Jay-Z routinely.

In fact, Wayne JUST went to 510,000 in sales for IANAHB2, while Jay-Z is predicted to do 528,000 first week when the numbers come out tomorrow.

Jay-Z's lowest selling solo album has sold more than 6 of Lil Wayne's 10 solo albums.

And Drake has only outsold Jay-Z once, when they both released albums in 2011, and Jay-Z's wasn't a solo album.

So i'm not sure what you're getting at with your comment about those two "routinely outselling Jay-Z"
