Jay throwing shots at Miley because she sonned him 3 years ago in an interview where she said she had never heard and didn't care to hear a Jay-Z song?

Damn son you up on Miley Cyrus history?

Party in the USA is one of my favorite songs. It is what it is.

You couldn't have typed that with a straight fact

This album shouldnt even be mentioned with RD, Vol 2, or BP for obvious reasons that should not need explanation

It doesnt have the soul, cohesiveness, and GOAT song order/flow of AG

Sound-wise, its maaaybe similar to BA in that its a new batch of production types for Jay z, but unlike BA there is no Allure, My 1st song, Dec. 4, Lucifer emotion...and he def aint spittin lyrically the same.

Then theres Vol. 1, the so called 'pop' album. A 'pop' album with Where im from, Lucky Me, You must love me, Imaginary player...Sound wise i can see the argument to say MCHG is better, but LYRICALLY...LYRICALLY...Jay back then was a damn monster, even on the most BS pop songs he spit FLAMES.

You cant just disregard that, so imo MCHG is only ahead of Vol. 3, BP3, and KC definitively. Dynasty is tough to grade but i still wouldnt put MCHG ahead just yet b/c Dynasty also had hits, lyrical wizardry, and most importantly depth.

You obviously ain't listing to lyrics nigga ..... For example "allure" and "holy grail" are essentially the same song in regards to lyrical content .... lyrical execution? May be up for debate ... But the content is very similar

Weren't you the nigga taking about AGHHH YOU NIGGAS QUOTIN SIMPLE LINES.... Lol and here you are not being able to understand this shit

Some of Y'all niggas too predictable ... Lol

If you think i'm gonna debate Jay lyrically now vs Jay then, you're sadly mistaken.

Not now, not ever.

Nigga save the dramatics ... aint nothing to debate .... Shit clearly went smooth beyond your comprehension level ... Sadly enough

Well it's one of my favorite. Never been afraid to listen to pop music. I always enjoyed Madonna, Backstreet Boys, LFO, Aaron Carter, Britney Spears, Vanessa Carlton, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, etc..

Lol

I swear blood y'all niggas be embellishing these revisionist stories ...

Jus like when some nigga on here tried to tell me that kanye used to be "a humble kind of guy" on his first album but now that guy is dead ... Lmao

Comedy

Yeah..but you could still tell the difference back then.

Riiiiiiiiiihht.

Same nigga that used to religiously shout out armadale vodka and crystal on every album ...

Smh ... Niggas

Can old niggas not have fun? He obliterated a few of these songs lyrically and the rest were above average. If I can ride out to something AND not feel like im becoming dumber by the bar while listening to something im with it. This is his best album since BA. Slightly better if not equal to AG. The vibes are just different. That was an album old heads could vibe with heavy and this is Jays take on more modern music.

Yo I swear La Familia goes so hard.

I need a grimey ass video wit cameos from Bron, KD, Dame, and fuk it, Puff throwin money.

Better than AG? hm idk about that. AG one of my fav Hov albums. I gotta still see it. i still don't mess with the intro like that but ima just edit justin timberlake's part and the outro its ok too. but i fuck with the rest of the songs.

MIC AVERAGE 3.96: 4 MICS (Average also includes production and flow of albums)

J Cole represented Man with “Born Sinner”. KanYe represented The Son with “Yeezus”. Well J Hova represents The God on “Magna Carta Holy Grail”. The 12th Solo release (18th total release including callobration LP’s and soundtracks) and soon to be his 15th #1 LP. Jay Z brings us his 1st solo album in 4 years and his 1st solo Summer release since his Classic debut “Reasonable Doubt”. “Holy Grail” has Hov returning and reminding the rap game why he’s still on top. The Platinum Album before it’s release set waves with the NBA Finals Samsung commercial TV spot. Critics seemed mixed but this album is one of Hov’s best from the Post-Retirement Era. “Kingdom Come” and “Blueprint 3” were both a success but they were uneven. “American Gangster” was his best album post-retirement. But “Holy Grail” is now in competition with it for best.

1st I have to give a huge bravo to Timbaland. Tim has been working with Jay Z for over 15 Years. They’ve produced countless Classics and many bangers. Lately though on the last few albums. Jay and Tim didn’t knock it out the park like they use to. This album brought out some of the best Hip Hop Timbaland has produced in years. The last time Timbaland produced this much of Jay’s album was the under-rated “Vol 3: Life and Times of Shawn Carter”. A matter fact most of the songs feel like songs that would have been on a possible “Vol 4” album from Jay. So I was very happy with the production. I thought Pharrell, Swizz, Mike Dean, Travis Porter, Boi1da, Mikewillmadeit as well as Jerome Harmon and Mike Dean all brought it to give the album a well rounded sound.

The album starts off on a good note as “Holy Grail” ends up being the main beat we’ve been hearing in the commercials. Jay goes in and Justin does a good job on the hook. “Picasso Baby” had Jay channeling his 90’s self with a soild flow. “Tom Ford” had moments and the beat is straight but it was only OK. Ricky comes through on “F*ckwitmeuknowigotit”. Then the album just hits you with songs I feel will be future favorites for Jay fans. Including “Oceans” and “F.U.T.W.” both were fire. The NaS and Jay Saga didn’t disappoint as NaS got his jiggy on with “BBC aka Billionaire Boys Club”. I won’t say who got who but Jay is a little more comfortable over a Timbaland beat even though NaS has ripped his share of Timbo beats himself. They both went in and I love the hook. It better be a single.

Jay and Beyonce follow up their previous Pac sampled hit “Me and My Girlfriend” with “On the Run (Part II)“ and the sequel is actually better than the original. It isn’t a Jay Z album if he doesn’t Big up his Brother. Jay Z has paid homage to Biggie his entire career on every album. On “Jay Z Blue” he channeled the “Life After Death” Classic album cut “My Downfall” as he sends a love letter to his 1 year old daughter Blue Ivy. Biggie’s haunting adlibs drive the track and the Timbo production and mommy dearest sample was flawless. Biggie was also refering to the film “Mommy Dearest” in the original song. The album ends tight with “La Familia” and “Nickels and Dimes”. The interludes lyrically I liked but production was only OK. Mikewillmadeit and Hit Boy gave Jay some bangers but it was a little short. Jay did body Wayne on “Versus” though. I was lukewarm on “Crown” and “Somewhere in America” but they both weren’t bad.

Overall I have to say I was impressed. From listening to it I like it more than “Blueprint 3 and Kingdom Come”. It’s basically as solid as “American Gangster”. As how it shapes up to previous Jay Classics? I think “Holy Grail” will be considered one of Jay’s better albums but not Classic. But it’s still middle of the road. We get Braggadocio’s Jay but I think this is more deeper than Jay has been in awhile talking about the history of America, Racism and the struggle of wealthy Black man in America.

With no single released and no video. “Magna Carta Holy Grail” will be remembered as an album that changed the direction of Hip Hop and how it’s sold and marketed. But the quality of the album is what will stand the test of time. Jay proved once again that he isn’t going anywhere and he’s continuing to grow with Hip Hop. Sorry Young Lions but the King of the Jungle came to eat and with “Holy Grail” it’s going to be a Hot Summer for Hov. Out of the 3 Rocafella albums. I have to say Jay then Cole then KanYe for this round. Overall I was very impressed with the album.

1. Reasonable Doubt - 5 MICS

2. Blueprint - 5 MICS

3. The Black Album - 4.5 MICS

4. Vol 2: Hard Knock Life - 4.5 MICS

5. Vol 1: In My Lifetime - 4 MICS

6. American Gangster - 4 MICS

7. Magna Carta Holy Grail - 4 MICS

8. Vol 3: Life and Times of Shawn Carter - 4 MICS

9. Blueprint 3 - 3.5 MICS

10. Blueprint 2 - 3.5 MICS

11. Dynasty - 3.5 MICS

12. Kingdom Come - 3 MICS

The problem is a hiphop artist of jays relevancy has never still been popping at his age ... Hiphop as a collective is still relatively young and trying to figure out what to do with rappers as they begin to age ..

Nggas is still usin 'It went over your

head' in 2013, huh

This was straight fire. I can respect him in this.

Getting ghost in the Ghost

Can you see me? Can you see me?

Have mercy on a Judas, angels wings on a 'ghini

I'm secular, tell the hecklers seckle down

Y'all religion creates division

Like my Maybach partition, and

God is my chauffeur

Boy they loves Hova

From the south side of Chi

To Brooklyn where I growed up I confess

God in the flesh

Live among the serpents

Turn arenas into churches

I'm like Michael recycled, these are not 16's

These are verses from the Bible

Tell the preacher he's a preacher

I'm a motherfucking prophet, smoke a tree of knowledge

Drink from a gold chalice, you gotta love it

I arrive at pearly gates, I had luggage

Meaning I had baggage

Niggas asking me questions, I don't answer to these busters

Only God could judge us, motherfuckers

Might not be better than AG but its not worse. And I think AG is a top 5 album from jay. Especially lyrically. The fact that he weaved scenes from the movie into the album to tell its on story was genius. But the way this album details his corporate takeover and the backlash from it is genius in its own way too tho.
