at that point I realized problems are problems of those that choose to have problems, from that point I figured my life is gravy fuck everybody else only energy and support I giving is to those that are making progress and wanting similar quailty of life standards as me...............rewarding positive behavior will trickle down to the eyes of the youth tomorrow

I dont think settling is the answer...i think people just need to work on themselves and acheive happiness in thier own personal life before adding another person (be it a child or a boyfriend) to the equation.

It has alot to do with social standing and people wanting to belong. Alot of people want relationships,kids,certain careers,and marriage just to reach a certain status. Instead of waiting for the right time to make certain moves people force themselves into them according to what someone else says is right(im lookin at you religious folk)

Ive had two past friends tell me this same thing. Both of different genders but both black.

Bolded has gotta be in the top 3 if not the #1 issue w/ us. Denial and solutions cannot co-exhist. Either we address the problems and work towards solutions, or we completely deny their existence/make excuses and go on living life wondering why some things never get any better for us. This is not necessarily a "black" problem either. I just think that it appears to be more of a problem in our communities due to the availability of what is considered "a good man". That availability is directly controlled by so many other factors such as education, upbringing, incarceration rates and more importantly the acceptance of subpar men by some of our women. Both the men and women have to be held to a higher standard. If women are accepting of the steretypical thug nigga, then the men have to no motivating factor for change. Same goes for women. As long as nigguhs out here wifing and rewarding goldiggers, hoes and superficial stuck up broads.....do we really expect them to change? In it's simplest form, I liken acceptable behavior to trends and fads. As w/ fads/trends, they are cool as long as they are in season and cosigned by the majority. The minute that shit is out of style though, you won't catch anybody doing it, wearing it, etc.
