for a young girl to have the weight of a race on her shoulders she kicked any pressure right in the ass and did the dougie afterwards.

For her to be a 16 yr old gold medal gymnast ... thats incredible.

Thats all that matters.

But on the flip side... they do wear a ton of make already..

I think track star Carmelita Jeter was like... "Hey I love to wear make-up when I sprint"... granted shes older but still. I wonder why female athletes wear tons of make up to begin with.

C'mon yo. I'm very Proud of her but she did not have the weight of a race on her shoulders and WE should not put it there. Let's just be extremely proud of her.

She wasn't even thinking about that anyway

The bubbly 16-year-old beat two Russians and teammate Aly Raisman to take the top medal in her sport. Gabby was so overjoyed and overwhelmed by her victory that she didn’t appear to fathom at first that her trail-blazing triumph has done more than simply guarantee her spot on a Wheaties box.

“I kind of forgot about that,” Gabby said, a big grin spreading across her face. “Man, that’s awesome, that’s definitely an amazing feeling. I forgot about that.”

The only other African-American female gymnast to win any individual Olympic medal was Dominique Dawes, who took the bronze for her floor exercise in the 1996 Atlanta games.

Breaking News: Hundreds of black women on blogs such as LSA, Nicole Bitchie and all over the internet congratulate Gabby on her Olympic win.

Why ain't this shit on CNN? NBC? Fox??? Black women congratulating one another is rare as fuck, this should have wall-to-wall coverage. SMH.

The same reason why the hunger games made news for racist tweets and not how it shattered the box office

Let's not act ya'll don't eat this shit up just because the topic is about black hair

The media including all the blogs you listed does this shit everyday because it sells

So if even mentioning them was supposed to make what point exactly?!?

Idk

I think sometimes we create 'outrage' on things that are common that we have no real desire to change
