gabbys father should of stayed with her mother. They are separated not together, so of course mom was getting all the praise. She is the one who sent gabby to gymnastics, sold her jewelry to try and pay off the coaches and etc. Yeah he was on duty, but it not like he raised her anyways. Mom and host family helped her become an olympic champion.

Why you talking like you was in the house with them? You don't know what the father did and didn't do. Based on the article about him, he was instrumental in her going to gymnastics and pushed her to go after her dream. How you going to say he didn't raise her? She said herself that he has a presence in her life, so her are you to say otherwise.

All that is irrelevant though because the way they cover it is as if he's a deadbeat that's not even in the picture. They are always talking about the mother and never even mention the father despite the fact that he actually does keep in close contact with his daughter and supports her in her endeavors. And because the reason he's not around is because he's been off fighting America's war. That's just messed up. They can praise the mother without completely disregarding the father.

she gon be beat no matter what

might as well just shave the shit off and rock a fade

but nah congrats to this black sister for achieving her dreams

Yea I peeped a bunch of comments from people on the articles and on Twitter trying to shit on her shine/fame. It doesn't matter too much in the long run but three things kinda irritate me about this whole thing:

1. Anything that has to do with women on a large scale is somehow turned into a beauty contest for the public. If I'm watching women's athletics I wanna see some women getting down at their respective sport. I don't really care about how they look.

2. Black people's continuing crab in the barrel ass mentality

3. The fact that natural black hair (for women) is somehow foreign and ugly.

Gabby is a winners and those who respect winners respect her, those who find reason to throw shade are likely victims of the "low self esteem" .....
