Doe or die is not better or on the same level as RD, matter fact AZ's catalog is solid but underwhelming at the same time

Lets stop with the Revisionist history.. When both were released, Doe or Die was the bigger album, performed better commercially and had the better reviews than Resonable Doubt. AZ was the bigger more anticipated rapper then.

Doe or Die was hailed classic from the jump, most didn't view Reasonable Doubt as a classic, in fact it didn't start getting recognition until Jay said "Classic should have went Triple" on Blueprint.

Ok and which one stood the test of time? All that other shit doesn't matter he had a bigger buzz because of life's a bitch but could never maintain that buzz or get out of Nas' shadow, Jay got a buzz and never looked back, and the one album there wasn't much buzz behind was his best one

AZ is one of the few who's skills not only didn't deteriorate but probably got better over time, but that still doesn't change the fact that his catalog is not up to par with some of the greats

AZ got four classic albums. He right there with Ghostface. Top ten.

O.C. got a better catalog if you really want to talk about underrated

No this a troll thread

Word Play - Jay Z (He's the best ever at this)

Multi's - Jay Z

Punchlines - Jay Z (He's the best at this)

Metaphors - Jay Z

Similie's - Jay Z

Rhyme Schemes - Jay Z

Flow - Jay Z

Hooks - Both weakness and neither sing

I swear to u I said this........ In 96 my nigga in 96!!!! Vividly remember I was aware of AZ first and loved how he laced his shit. When jay came around I was like oh he like AZ just not as good. Been known that

Jay generally is a notch or two above AZ with production because of his budget but I feel like AZ is actually a combination of Jay and Nas. Brooklyn swag, hustling but lyrical. His voice is unique more so than JayZ and his hooks are solid. Dude just couldn't get out of Nas shadow and couldn't fully switch to Jay's lane because his lyrical fans hate.

Being commercial came easy to AZ. Sugar Hill, Hey AZ, For The Love of Money. AZ just never invested in radio payola and Nas left him for dead.

Do or Die blows Reasonable Doubt out the water. Pieces of a Man is classic. However, it's true AZ has no Blueprint but Blueprint was mostly Kanye. IMO

We banning unpopular opinions? Y'all are faggots and bandwagon followers.

Fukk you if you not feelin me.

I know hip hop more than you little twerps. Been on this board before you were born. Check the date you fakkots.

I'm curious, has anyone been here since before the redesign? I think I first joined this forum somewhere back in 2001-2003, I can't remember the exact date. Am I the only dinosaur here?

AZ has an underground vibe

Yo the kats on this website listen to the radio all day

they get gamed by their homies just enuff to know what is relevant in their world to mention

like they know of cormega but probably never listened to a track

they know of jaz-o cuz the internet schools them but they wouldn't know shit

They may know of an AZ but don't know some of his dope tracks

The know what the radio tells them to know

They know Scarface but they don't know artist from Rap-A-Lot records and affiliates like K-Rino

They know Dj Screw but don't know Mr. 3-2

basically they don't know shit

I grew up in a time when it was cool to be the first one knowing about a newer artist or albums that nobody is up on yet. Now it's groupthink monkey see monkey do shit mane

I agree with this concept. I sho aint no follower on here. Lupe Fiasco got voted greatest rapperof the millenium on here.haha. He's not even on my radar. Never had interest in listening to him only heard a few singles years ago. Not my thing. I aint interested in Joe Budden or Canibus (a past favorite on here) etc. But I come here because its so detatched from whats going on out there. I listen to what i listen too then come here for the bizarre escapist comedy aspect.

One of the many things a lot of people seem to miss here is rappers are popular because they actually connect with the people and make music...people like *gasp*. Not some fringe with uncommon tastes. Its not some conspiracy and "they are popular but disregard that because..." no they are popular because people like it. Look at all the independent acts that have came out with no major backing. Jay Z is good at what he does. And I mean to where he has few peers.
