Because like it or not what goes on in Sub-Saharan Africa effects the way blacks are viewed world-wide. The world doesn't recognize us for our various culture, nationalities, and ethnicities. When they see us, regardless of where we are, they see black people. Africans.........blacks dont have the privilege of saying "well that whats going on in Haiti, I'm South African" in the same fashion a Japanese would say about a Chinese or a German would say about a Russian. The fact that we are viewed all the same regardless of who we are or where were from should bind us together in solidarity. But it doesn't obviously.
Right now it seems that every black ruled nation on this planet faces the same dilemma of absolute poverty and corrupt leaders. This fact raises doubt about our ability to lead. In the back of everyone's mind, they are asking themselves "are black people capable of being self sufficient?". They aren't asking themselves "are Haitians capable of being self sufficient" or "are Nigerians capable of being self sufficient". We are all black and we are all viewed the same. Do you get my point? We are in this fight together.

some people will never understand what your saying let alone even admit to being in a fight for whats right. too many people are more on the ....that shit dont effect me mindframe. like i said before and will say again....black people wont get it until all races from all nations begin to make us dissappear. then they will want to fight...but at that point it will be too late... so in the mean time ....we can look like we got money with our cars and jewelry and no financial education...and we can bang dime bitches and make tons of bastard kids becuz the dad does dumb shit to get shot or locked up...

so many fukkin problems ....and no one wants to do shit or they clown the guy that does want to do anything

But good thread man, the more things change the more they stay the same. The Chinese seem to be doing what the Europeans before them did, at the end of the day every peoples is out for themselves and thats the way it should be, a lot of these fools don't feel confident in their abilities to govern themselves, it also doesn't help when you got leaders who are puppets for the west, the likes of Gaddafi and Mugabe have been demonized by the western media but to be honest both of them had the right idea, the idea can't work when your neighboring countries aren't willing to support you.

"a nigga could overstand if he only understood"
there comes a point in time where the brothers and sisters who do know whats going on are going to have to leave the niggas who don't behind. We spend most of our time trying to put niggas on game when its just not in them to peep game. I stated in a previous post we have to build with the few soldiers we have, not everyone is going to catch that train when it comes. Some if not most are going to miss it and get left behind. And thats on them.

I'm glad you wrote all of this cause there have been plenty of times IRL and on the IC that I've wanted to express/explain the same thing, but it's like why waste your time.? Nigguhs don't get it and aren't trying to get it. I'm past the point of trying to state the obvious to some of these muffugas cause it's not rocket science. It's like you said " Some if not most are going to miss it and get left behind. And thats on them". Nigguhs want to approach every situation like we are on a level playing field w/ every other race on the planet OR come from the angle that "we are owed" something.

I agree that something gotta be done to not just restore Africa but bring black people together over here but you know why that's far from happening? Because WE blacks are our worst enemies!! How we gonna come together and help them niggas over there when we got a blazay ,reluctant attitude about supporting each other over here? See back in the 60's we had brothas like Martin and Malcolm around that blacks actually respected enough to listen to...but in this day and age of lightskin blacks and darkskin blacks having lots of problems with each other, the way we kill our own people in the hood like it ain't shit, and the overall crabs in the barrel mentality that plagues our community like it DONT do other races....we never gonna be able to stand up and fight against injustices amongst us negros because we can't even get outta our own way enough to be able to chove somebody else. I hate sounding this pessimistic but you all know its the truth!

It's all good. Maybe they'll listen to you. Black People should be if not concerned at least interested in this.
It amazes me how we have these Black Conscious groups and individuals that speak all this motherland shit yet do nothing here nor there about it. It's time to admit that Globally Black people are at the bottom of the food chain and no one gives a fuck about our history of oppression, so we need to get over the past if we want our future not to repeat.

Truth............

all these MFers over here talking a good game but they are all talk no action.

To the bolded - that only worked because we as black people had a common enemy or even goal. Not all black people back in those days even supported the civil rights movement. Thurgood Marshall is famous for criticizing how Martin used the media, the young people and the money of the NAACP to get to his goal. but he later explained his words.

To the underlined - That was happening back in the days too. Shit dont change and it is not specific to us as black people!

Sometimes I wonder if Africans really care about their homeland and their own well being. Because I see more Black Americans getting upset about whats being done to Africa than true Africans themselves. Its like they don't even care. They rather bicker about who belongs to what tribe or ethinc group than come together and build self sufficient societies..

Fix the link t/s cuz its no longer working.

But to reply to the bolded: Because they DONT give a fuck, b.

Why SHOULD say an Ethiopian care about whats goin on in Nigeria? Should the ppl of Spain care about the affairs of Greece? Its the same principle.

Ive stated this before and Ill say it again: Outside of those who are Afrocentric, people of African descent do not see themselves as Africans primarily, especially non African Americans. Its a secondary identifier to them. They're more likely to primarily identify themselves by their nationality and ethnicity; its more relevant to them.

I (an african American) might see and chop it up with a Black Dominican who states the obvious by saying "yeah ive got Black/African on my dads side" but thats as far as recognizing the bond between me and him he'll go.

Otherwise he sees me as a Black American and more than likely himself as a Dominican (prolly not even a "BLK." Dominican) whose living in the States.

African Americans in particular have developed this monolithic love/idea of Africa. It goes back to when Blacks were first developing a sense of pride and recognized that national and ethnic pride is one of the greatest sources of instilling said pride.

The problem however was that African American blacks (initially) had only the barest notion of WHERE in Africa we primarily came from. The general idea of being from Africa is all we had. That and racism here in the States was against all people of color, regardless of your specific nationality and ethnicity.

So we decided to cape for the whole damn continent of Africa.

Which is really the way things SHOULD be. Advancing something for Blacks regardless of nationality or ethnicity really would benefit ALL those of Blacks.

But as far getting people to unite? If you look at any other race, pride movements dedicated around an entire RACE primarily are extremist views. Fringe movements at best. People are different, like for those differences to be recognized, and have different wants and needs. Race alone doesn't acknowledge enough for many.

I disagree with that last part tho. I don't see other races tearing each other down like we do...atleast not as often enough to be an issue

Other races feel little to no sense of unity on the level of race is why you dont see that.

The Chinese dont spend their time scrutinizing the Japanese for their consumer happy culture. They barely think of them at all (well outside of hate due to the raping of nanking).

I see where you going with this and your basically saying that one's cultural background and ethnicity has more influence on him/her than race. I couldn't agree more because this is fact. But as I stated earlier we don't have the privilege of differentiating ourselves based on the premise of culture and nationanility. The world (with respect to certain places) sees black, regardless of where you are OR who you are.

just the fact of being seen as a black person who is lazy(no matter how hard you work), having tons of kids(even if you dont have any), and living in the hood(even when your from the burbs....the shit should make you want to strive to have your own community where you can live without going thru this shit allday everyday...and have a better community than what most hoods offer.

its just too many of us that rather fight with each other before we fight against other people....when with everyone else its fight other people first then we fight each other...
