Why do most Cubans in America vote Republican?

It's because of Fidel and left over anti-Fidel sentiment. Cubans came to view Dems as being "soft", on Communism. Also it has to be with their socio-ecomomic status. Since many Cubans are well too, they view the G.O.P. as being better for their business and money.

As far as this generation, those Cubans are Republicans they same reason why most Blacks are Dems, because their parents were.

Funny because the Dems cater to them too on the Embargo issue too. Goes to show how valuable Florida is in US pres elections.

It'll be interesting to see if this generation of Cuban Americans are less concerned about the embargo, my bet is that Cubans on both sides will be over it once Fidel heads to that big collective in the sky.

Hate to say it but it's true. Cuba was ruled by a Spaniard minority and built on the sweat of Afro/Native people. and its ironic because during the civil war era all the democratic govenors refused to accept the fact slavery was over and republicans from the midwest/north worked to end slavery but republicans have changed since then obviously

it may depend on demographics, and age, here in FL, ALL of the Cuban Americans I know voted Democrat this last election. Older Cuban Americans seem to vote Republican.

You equate lack of government representation to enslavement and oppression? No ones in love with Fidel but people like you act as if the Cuban revolution was the worst thing to happen to Cuba. Maybe it was for the bourgeois upper class but for Afro/Native Cubans it was a step forward. The Cuban government has discriminated against Afro-Cubans and Haitians by denying citizenship to many of them who have been in Cuba for decades.
