HOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. THIS NIGGA SAID BUDDEN. Budden is nice, but hell no.

Nah, I just stated him to prove a point. If you dont have a successful mainstream solo career, you can't be a GOAT.

"It goes reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac, and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me."

That's pretty much the only starting point I can find.

I dont think anyone is questioning Andre's skills. He's a top 10 talent IMO. However that doesnt mean he deserves to be on a list of top 10 rappers. When I make my list of GOATs I weigh everything from lyrical ability to content to delivery to catalog. When I get to catalog I can only credit him with half of Outkasts work and thats being generous. Does Dre's work with Outkast outweigh the work of somebody like Redman who came out the gate with 3 near classic solo albums? Nah. Is it better than Black Thought holding down 90 percent of the emceeing on all those classic Roots albums? Nah. Is it better than Common's work? Nah. Did 3 Stacks ever run rap like LL? Nah. Was he an icon like Big Daddy Kane, Rakim or G Rap? Nah. We're talking about rappers who took no days off and stood on their own vs a guy who shared the mic and creative duties with another rapper.

Great emcee. Needs a solo album so we can judge him on his own work.

If solo's weren't a requirement for being one of the GOATs then Inspectah Deck would be in the conversation with his great guest appearances and verses on 36 Chambers, Forever, The W, and Iron Flag. Sometimes having to pull solo duty shows you that an emcee isnt perfect as was the case when Raekwon delivered a classic and then followed it up with a couple duds.

If there was a rap hall of fame Andre would definitely be in it... with his partner on the mic Big Boi.

Have you heard any Joe Budden mixtapes? Or are you saying that off personal preference? And even so, ustreet said, how come Inspectah Deck aint considered a GOAT? He's dropped enough classic verses and Uncontrolled Substance is damn near flawless. And yes, even now he can outrap 90% of the industry.

He helped father gangster rap as a whole, and is a pioneer in the mafioso rap genre. Ask Nas, Rae and Rick Ross about him.

Bro check the premise of the thread .... then check the logic behind the premise of the thread ...i dont believe dre is supreme over the rappers generally accepted in goat talk ....but to say with his body of work and skill set he isn't in the conversation is borderline silly imo....

The premise of the thread, that Dre is overrated cuz of his fashion and flow, is stupid anyway. We're just trying to answer it seriously cuz it is a good question. People do overrate Dre, just like they do a lot of people. You gotta ask what is the definition of a GOAT, then look at Dre and ask does he accomplish all these things. He is the perfect MC IMO. Definitely a pioneer in many aspects of hip hop. But what's so hard about putting out a solo album just to show your teeth? He's been in the game for 17 years, Big Boi already put one out, why can't he?

I can't even believe somebody made a thread like this...but then again I guess its hard to except a southern artist who has the whole package (flow, delivery, versatility, storytelling, pure musical ability, content, etc, etc). Dudes clothes and looks got nothing to do with his music.......listen to his music and stop asking dumb shit.

this^^^........i know it stings some of them to know he aint from NY and is one of the greats of Hip hop lol

Inspectah Deck?? the wu got one album maybe two that are considered stone cold classic were he along with 9 OTHER mcs share the mic ....u cant tell the differnce between that situation and dres?? along with the fact that ID has dropped what 4-5 albums after US and how many of those were near classic material?? c'mon bruh stop that reaching shit ...apple and oragnes

As far as Joe goes ....admittedly i havent played front to back every project ...because alot of em i wasnt feelin like that ....not to mention all of the extra average shit joe has dropped..... his catalouge is coo ..but he imo has just as many great joints as he does average ...and no classics ...so ...i dont even know what he's doing in this discussion...

So all the classic material aside ....all the classic verses aside .....the longevity aside ....the hits aside ....none of that shit is valid without a solo album?? word??
