Dre only rapped on the 1st 3 Outkast albums. On Stankonia he was doing a mix of singing and rapping. On his solo album he sang.
I don't see whats so crazy about saying he needs a solo rap album to be considered a legit top 5 candidate.

It's not saying he needs a solo album...I agree, it'd be great to hear what Dre would sound like on an album by himself...but to discredit him because he hasn't dropped one and to act as if his rhymes are only half as good because he's been part of Outkast his whole career is just stupid...him being part of a group doesn't make him less of a rapper or less skilled of a rapper than others who have dropped solo albums...for all that Souljah Boy is a better rapper and should be ranked higher...so should Wacka Flocka, Gucci, Memphis Bleek, Jim Jones, and any other bullshit rapper who has dropped a solo album...hell Jon Cena has a solo album does that make him better than Andre too?

Not saying Dre is a top 10, there are so many other cats that contributed more to hip hop (DMX aint one of them, sorry). But think of what he contributed to Outkast. Big Boi couldnt just find another dude and do the same thing. In fact, 3K was most of the appeal of that group. When they dropped that dbl album, a lot of those hits came from 3K. And you can say he was singing and catered to a wider audience, but the fact remains that Outkast wouldnt be Outkast without Dre. And being in a top 5 group with only 2 people, that says a lot about him.

This shit is true. Not saying they don't at all down here but you are rare if you do. Gucci is Jay down here and Boosie is Nas. I'm not saying quality rappers don't sell out shows/get played down here because they do. Texas has such a huge population that there are a lot of fans of quality rap music, it's just the ones that like the trash outnumber us by a lot. Anyways I have no problem if a nigga thinks X is better than DRE 3k. I disagree but they're both legends so to each his own. you do realize that outside of the IC Andre is going to rank higher than top 20 most likely given the agreed upon respect and admiration not only fans but other rappers have for both Andre and Big Boi for what they've contributed to rap
