2. If people didn't think his music was boring, 7th Seal would have sold a lot of records. But it didn't. Sales are a reflection of popularity.
3. I don't live in my mother's house.
4. So what? A sample doesn't preclude an album from being superior. And Paid in Full is not the only album that can be argued is better than Illmatic. Amerikkkaz Most Wanted, It Takes A Nation, The Chronic, Death Certificate, Ready To Die >>>>>>>>>>>> Illmatic

3. i think u do live at ur mothers house. why?? because no one brought that up until u did
4. an illmatic sample was the hook for arguably the best song on reasonable doubt. illmatic helped birth reasonable doubt. it may not have happened without the sampling which helped make that song a hit
5 amerikka's ... no - it takes a nation ... close but no - the chronic ... too much obvious samples but a good arguement - death certificate ... better than amerikkkaz so which one do u want to choose?? LOL - ready to die ... not as potent and you know it

2. Ice cube went platinum in 1990 im gonna need you to prove this ... And even if he did ... Him and nwa were the only ones doing that many album sales. Gold was the standard in that time period and rakim did his part. Asking a rapper to go platinum in that time would be like asking every rapper in the early to mid 90's to go multi plat
3. I don't live at my mother's house. why do you keep bringing this up .... Im just gonna agree to disagree with you ... Ur on your moms laptop and you know it
4. Dead presidents was great because of the production and lyrics from hov. It would have been great with or without the nas sample. yes but with out the lead single it may not have seen the light of day ... Just like sticky fingaz solo album
5. Death certificate and ready to die are without a doubt better than illmatic. Ready to die put east coast back on the map. Death certificate is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time along with it takes a nation. Ready to die put the east back on commercially not artistically. Everything else is arguable. The point is rakims style birthed nas ... And nas ethered jay z

there's more to an album other than lyrics. While illmatic may be better lyrically than ready to die or reasonable doubt, these two albums have better production, more classic songs and more replay value.

18th letter(1997) never went platinum. The Master (1999) never went platinum, and The 7th Seal (2009) couldn't even go gold. Rakim's last platinum album was released in the 1980's. 20 years later and this lame is still rapping about atoms, bibles and spaceships. Why can't these 50 year old dinosaur rappers give it up?
Rakim is not the god mc. God mcs are supposed to adapt with the times and stay relevant. Rakim hasn't been relevant for the past two decades.

4. Reasonable Doubt >>> Illmatic
