And for the record I have stated, I don't believe the rape accusations against Cosby. However, his character can be brought into question because, of some his decisions and how he conducted himself. Especially given his propensity for lecturing others. I'm not saying a man has to be perfect, however he should conduct himself with a bit more tact and caution.

has he not done that most of his career?

again....how long can a man have to walk a fine line...especially when you see YOUR race not moving like you know they can.

I don't know what he has or hasn't done most of his career. That's why I have not indicted the man or totally dismissed his contributions.. However, I can see how some feel completely comfortable doing so.

everything he said in those speeches or rants can be seen as truth.

where you are in your life depends on how you will see it. how your parents raised you.....will also come into play.

to be so offended at his words tell more about you than you think.

alot of you niggas dont have room to talk.

who

more when have you ever tried to speak to a room full of black people or kids after seeing what the world has to offer?

you dont know what you dont know but can refute what someone tells you as false if you wont take the time to find the truth.

niggas always spinning in circles....not knowing when to stop and listen

I had this convo with Boss before, but I'll go deeper here. What Cosby said in his speech wasn't bad per say. He had a good message and he meant well. The issue is that we as black people don't have the same luxuries as white folks, they can say and do what they want. When you're a prominent figure speaking on a public forum you gotta walk that line. When you're black you have to pick and choose your words wisely, Cosby being an OG should've known better which led to white folks propping up his speech and cherry picked his words while pissing off black people.

ill give you credit....

but at what point can the person in that position say f it......time is running out. LETS GET IT!.

white people gonna do what they want. my nigga you know that.

you can pick and choose your words all day. when they want to mix your shit they will.

but i ask you this....

if you know this....why is it even important to you?

why are you faulting him for not wanting to play this game anymore and keeping it 100 with you.

does him saying ....fukk these people...i need to speak to MY people....does that not deserve a bit of respect?

He did choose to say fuck it. There are plenty of prominent black people who tell black society about themselves and it doesn't come off like he's throwing black people under the bus. Lesson learned.

That's really a problem that black people need to deal with because that actually makes us look fucked up and weak.

Cosby can say some truth to his people but because white people twist his words and message then black people get mad at Cosby cause they let white people control the narrative and message.

Expound on the bold.

I think you might've missed the point with the underlined. I never said or implied that you can't speak truth to your people. No matter what platform you speak on you're still speaking on platforms that are given to us by white controlled media/companies. How fucking telling is it that white people loved Cosby's speech while there were simultaneously a majority of blacks that lost respect for Cosby for that very speech just let that marinate, and then my point should be clearer to you..

but my nigga.....the very thing people have a problem with ...you just did.

you placed him in a box..by saying others can say the same but....

he is different....he is old.

his energy is focused on him trynna keep his eye straight and niggas want him to be like other black people.

You're asking my opinion so, yes, people saying fuckk cosby are also saying fuck anyone doing some good on one hand while directly or indirectly doing some fuckkk shit on the other.

We all have a right to be frustrated. However, our frustrations shouldn't come with sweeping indictments of our own people, the spreading of misinformation and the degradation of people within our race we don't find commonalities. Our frustrations should be solidly placed on those who profit, instigate and perpetuate the ills in our community.

In regards to the bold. The speech was given at a black event. If I remember correctly there wasn't this huge backlash from black people until the white media picked up on it and started putting their spin on it and acting like they've been saying the same shit for the longest time. As well as acting as if they are coming from the same space of love for black people as Cosby was coming from.

So if the majority of the backlash from black people didn't come until white people put their spin on it. Then that shows how fucked up and weak some black people are. I say that because black people letting white people put a battery in their back to go at another black person.

Facts is facts and in that speech Cosby spoke some facts. White people ain't really love that speech. What they did was seize an opportunity to cause more discord between a prominent black person and black people. Unfortunately some black people fell for that shit hook, line and sinker.

Its way more telling to me that way too many black people still just blindly follow the white controlled media and their narratives about black people without question. Instead of looking at what the white media is saying questioning them on the bullshit they've been spewing and continuing to spew.

Your point was always clear I just don't 100% agree with your point. Its not like the shit you said was deep and could actually go over someone's head it was basic as shit.

I don't remember whether black people caught outrage because of whites. But like I said regardless if a black person attempting to school black people but the only people that speech seems to resonate with are white people, then that's quite telling and that should let you know right there. Your point about black people following the media controlled narrative has validity but in this case how much does it apply? If my point was clear you sure are acting like you couldn't grasp it.

What you put in bold ain't a fact. Its flat out wrong of him to say. At the same time even though I 100% disagree with him I get the context in which he made that horrible statement.

I already addressed the "black event" argument that platform was given by whites and they were allowed to hold that event by whites. So in a sense the audience isn't just black people.

No you just want me to agree 100% with your point and that ain't happening

Lol no, we both seem to agree that he had some good content in his speech. We just don't agree on how he delivered his message. I'd rather tow the line and deliver the speech to my people that may piss off white people but empower blacks than the opposite but that's just me.

However, I can see how some feel completely comfortable doing so.

how tho......

so a lifetime of contributions mean nothing...if the states something that hits a nerve?

ok try to follow me here.

people can say "fukk cosby" right. because how he looked down on black people. right.

but are those same people saying fukk drug dealer, fukk drug users, fukk stick up boys, fukk gang members, fukk niggas who talk kids out of doing better, fukk niggas who aint taking their time with their kids, fukk niggas who aint cleaning up the community, fukk niggas who aint bringing legit business or jobs to the hood.

but we focus on fukk cosby because of some small shit when his history is proven and solidified in the black community.\

shit im glad they was white chicks and not black chicks......he kept it real to smut them out and not our queens...but again...some dont and wont see the positive in none of this cause he said pull up your....oh wait...he said this...https://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~schochet/101/Cosby_Speech.htm

lol...had to do it

but anyway

should he not have a place to be frustrated?

and those who are frustrated with him.....THOSE of the people we need to seek history on. what have you done type niggas to speak at this man? fukk opinions......explain your(no you) need to think you can have an opinion when he helped families better themselves.

Our frustrations should be solidly placed on those who profit, instigate and perpetuate the ills in our community.

i have nothing but applause for this post.

but i just wanna give the bolded an extra shout cuz imma nigga like that.

this has always been my problem.

we all can be frustrated.....but not to the point of allowing our own to be torn down.

cosby understands our frustrations...very few understand his.

i am blessed enough to understand it.

its but so many ways you can try to help and say shit nicely before you just lose it.

you have to understand whats stopping you before you can say you not ready to go.

i honestly see...a certain demographic stopping more black people from rising. its not about hood or poor. and this is before we get to white people and they shit.

their is a level of ignorance thats very toxic.

its people who want to help and people who want help...but that void of toxic nigga....thats the problem.

they hide among the rich and poor...they tell the poor to not listen....the tell the rich to not help.

an honestly.....its very visible on this board.

why do you care who it resonates with if its to help black people?

nigga ...i heard greek trap music.

does it matter the niggas was rapping in greek quoting black rappers?

From the transcripts I posted. js

We cannot blame white people. White people (clapping) .. white people don’t live over there. They close up the shop early. The Korean ones still don’t know us as well…they stay open 24 hours (laughter).

Still doesn't change what I'm saying because like I said. Cosby spoke "SOME" facts.

What you put in bold ain't a fact. Its flat out wrong of him to say. At the same time even though I 100% disagree with him I get the context in which he made that horrible statement.

He shouldn't have said it!

I was pointing out that whites were in fact in the audience and co-signing him. Not what he said. Which this was quite tame compared to the rest of the trash that exited his mouth that evening.

He was all over the place that evening and if carefully dissected it was incoherent, reckless and non-factual in some cases.

For example he says...

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans, they don’t know a damned thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Shaligua, Mohammed and all that crap and all of them are in jail. (When we give these kinds names to our children, we give them the strength and inspiration in the meaning of those names. What’s the point of giving them strong names if there is not parenting and values backing it up).

How is that not a sweeping generalization and smack in the face to Black Americans who are in fact from Africa or those who have knowledge of self and have grown our children to live up their given names? We just cannot allow anyone I don't care how much they have donated to be this reckless.

Then he goes on to say.

You don’t read that. They don’t shoot down Black Muslims. You understand me. Muslims tell you to get out of the neighborhood. When you want to clear your neighborhood out, first thing you do is go get the Black Muslims, bean pies and all (laughter). And your neighborhood is then clear. The police can’t do it .

But he just attempted to scolded Black folks for naming their children Muhammad.

However, well meaning he thought this speech was, it was more of incoherent rant.
