i wonder how petyon would do on some illmatic shit with no major features at wideout. not to mention pre broncos he feasted on perfect conditions. hes a great qb but i don't respect the fact he doesn't have postseason dominance, doesn't do well in cold weather and head behind a dome most his career. outside the superbowl football is a sport about the elements.
Peyton is a control freak. He needs the house with the white pickett fence and sunny skies. That's what to me even as a pats fan makes me respect eli more. When shit hits the fan eli fights through adversity. Peyton has more natural talent than brady or eli but a few things go wrong and peyton falls apart.
The thing is, whoever Peyton is throwing to will look like a good WR. He threw at least 10 TD passes to 4 different receivers last year I think.
The problem with this is the same problem people have with him in the post-season. It only counts when you want it to. Peyton will only have no major WR's (according to someone trying to knock him) when he has a bad year. None of the people last year have proven to be beast regardless of QB. Only Welker had pre-Peyton success, but that was with Brady. But of course he'll do bad with average receivers, if you only consider them average receivers when he does bad.
Here's my problem with the "Peyton loses when it counts" thing. It's only considered a big game, if he loses. AFC Championship game vs Pats. He won, and it was "ya whatever, not the SB". If he lost it'd be "he lost when it counted".
Of course he loses the big games, if they're only considered big games if he loses! Peyton is the ONLY QB whose reputation takes a hit any year he doesn't win the SB. No one's really knocked Brady for the past 8 years. Or talked about Brees not winning enough SB's, and they're all HOF QB's.
