To most black men, it makes you more of a man to cheat on your wife, disrespect women, sleep around, be in the streets all day, waste your money on irrelevent shit, idolize rappers and drug dealers, be "hard" etc. They have their priorities all fucked up. Meanwhile, whites, Asians, Arabs, etc. out here chasing that paper the right way. Black guys just want instant gratification, like they wanna put rims on their 2001 Honda so bitches will fuck them. They ain't worried about bettering themselves in the LONG RUN financially, mentally, physically, emotionally.

When you grow up around PEOPLE who ain't shit, you try to fit in with them, even without realizing it, even if your home life is okay. In school if you were a nerd you got clowned, even beat up.. so you had to try to fit in. That's where it starts. And these kids are SO heavily influenced by TV and the media, which tells them being a thug like Plies gets you girls and money. Its just sad.

You've hit the nail on the head. The neighborhoods people live in (including the people they are around) really can make all the difference in the world in terms of how things turn out in life for them. Hip hop makes things worse (if only because it makes change harder), but it is not the main problem (it might be the main problem for people outside of the hood, but not in the hood). The hood needs to be transformed, and this requires some kind of intervention, because it is obvious the the same attitudes that hold people back can persist, if not indefinitely, certainly long after the original obstacle (white racism) has receded as a major factor. This is bottom line.

I've had the opportunity to witness some of the most intelligent, well-rounded, and every other word you can use to describe them black men who are most definately the future leaders of this world ((Morehouse College is across the street)). I know future doctors, engineers, artists, dancers, accountants, mathmaticians, etc. I know guys that are just getting into their twenties who are already business owners.Unfortunately, they don't get the attention that bad balck men get, and a lot of them work behind the scene (( which is why a lot of so called "successful black women" can't find them.... their to busy doing them, and they have no problems finding black women that are on the same page as them)). Is it a conspiracy to keep other black men from achieving something in their life ? Maybe, but we all need to be responsible for the actions we take.

How are black women to blame in this situation ?????? Here's how.

If your a single mother, irreguardless of how you came to be one, you have the biggest impact on your childs life. If you've made mistakes in the past, you should have learned a lesson and hopefully, make it a priority to teach your child. It amazes me how a lot of children don't know their father(( and let's say their father isn't shit)), but are raised by their mother and turn out just like their father. You can't blame the father because he was never in their lives the biggest influence on them is their mother....... therefore, their mother isn't shit.

I have to co-sign with the "brothahood" on that a lot of black women play a big part in how black men turn out.
