im in agreement with you on this post my dude...hell just last night me and my girl were having a conversation about the importance of having BOTH parents in a child's life and she told me that she noticed from seeing me around my father that alot of the little things I do, holding doors open, walking on the outside of the curb, etc. she can tell that I got from him and I told her it's stuff I picked up from just watching my father, not even him telling me "this is what you do as a man" but from literally seeing him do it I knew that if I wanted to be a man then that's what I had to do...i needed a man to show how to behave, act, and think like a man...as far as why young dudes choose to be thugs it's mainly because, IMO, that's the image that girls respond to...you can see how some dudes just think it's soft to be anything other than the "nigga on the block"...look at how niggas think it's gay to listen to R&B music, look at how R&B singers are talking about the same shit as rappers now (niggas singing about being in the club is always funny to me)...the image of the "average man" isn't respected so young men try to recreate this larger than life persona they see on tv...if people stopped responding to it then it would change
