Was Spike Lee Wrong For Making 'Chiraq' A Satire?

I only watched the trailer and was cracking up.

A few things about this debate people need to consider, rappers have a lot of pull with young kids these days. Too many of them are proud of "Chiraq". What's to be proud of being in the top three cities of most murders per year since 1985? And the clinching point from the trailer is organization.

One woman starts a plea with fellow women to end the violence. A clear, cohesive plan to get what they want spearheaded by a strong leader, and strong yet malleable members. I see this movie as what blacks need in general, Leadership.

People want to throw solutions to a problem but never organize. Leave it to the old leaders of the black community instead of us.

Gangs are supposedly running in the field like a headless chicken without a leader to guide them. Chicago needs to be fixed from the inside, gangs make problems like reality-stars create plots. They need to be taught tolerance. With quick access to guns it doesn't help to refocus their anger. Long-term their life isn't sustainable as long as others can blame you for being in a set.

Django was a big satire

Ironically, Rhymefest asked how people would feel if Tarantino did a satirical slave piece, but he didn't acknowledge Django.

I watched one of his other videos critiquing the film, but it was crazy because he also admitted that he didn't see it. How do people formulate opinions based on information that is either absent or incomplete?

In all seriousness, why do people keep talking shit they don't know? If you dislike the film, so be it; but why is acceptable to speak loud and ignorant about things you neither know nor understand?

People here thought it was going to be a hood film, the news and Rahm implied that this was going controversial. Rahm didn't want the movie made and hated the term Chiraq. But Spike has said all along it was going to be satirical, and people didn't realized it til the trailer came out.

Funny how people from outside chicago say u don't know what a satire is, and people from chicago say u don't understand chicago, problem is u need to understand something properly to make a satire about it, 1 false move and u exploiting it, or misrepresenting it. I live in chicago, I don't think it has been properly addressed and represented in a serious tone enough to come out with this. With cali we had color s, boys in the hood, menace 2 society, and a couple more then we had don't drink your juice while in the hood. People need to see the culture of a place to understand the mind state of the people, and I think there lies the problem spike don't know the culture of chicago. People say it could have been called Baltimore. Or philly, while why not name it that. If I made a movie using your first and last name I think u would have a problem with the film if it's suppose to be about u but not a proper representation of.
