Chi-raq was actually a good flick.

It was better than Red Hook Summer & Da Sweet Blood of Jesus ill give u that

Bruh, I never heard of this flick until now and I jus looked it up and I can't believe Spike made this silly ass shit. SMH

I read the plot and it sounds like a BET movie that was produced by them two weird lookin' niggas in your avi.

Massive Spike fan here. I try to catch everything he drops. Flop or not... I'd say I'm more into his filmmaking style especially the 'moving doll' technique

Spike Lee is on Larry Holmes status ,the way he directs doesn't mesh with today's audience. Watch if this movie gets terrible reviews fans are going to blame Spike Lee.

It was actually a remake of a Blaxploitation movie made in the '70s...

I agree though. Last brilliant movie Spike has made was Inside Man which was in '06? That's a decade of flops and average looking flicks

However I personally liked his interpretation of Oldboy

He makes brilliant documentaries too. Like the ones on Michael Jackson's Bad album and Kobe on court

Yeah the docs have been his saving grace for the last 10 years. the 2 you named, the 2 on NO/Katrina, and the MJ Off The Wall one.

Ride them coat tails Spike

His career was in need of a jump start

Spike got some of my all time favorite movies, but I gotta c/s this. He been shaky lately and Peele being involved is a big reason why this could be interesting.

Shakey lately?

He been trash for 10yrs

But cosign how great he was in the 90s

Crookyln

Clockers

Do the Right Thing

3 of my favorites of all time

Throw in School Daze and Malcolm X and that's my top 5 from Spike.

All the work Spike Lee has put in and this is the thanks he gets.

Peele off of Get Out(which I fell asleep on) has Spike Lee riding his coattails.

HOW!!??

He's past his prime...

Peele made a nuanced film that made a huge impact...

Lee's style is very heavy-handed (dare I say "preachy"...) which was suited for the movies he made in the 80s... now, not so much...

Although I'd love for him to prove me wrong, I've given him plenty of chances already to do so...

Nigga makes one film compared to Spike who has made multiple impact films.

Shit ain't adding up. Especially for you to say Spike is heavy handed with his message which ain't suited for now. I would actually disagree. With as many mindless "let them cook" don't care about nothing but money ass niggas running around now. A heavy handed message is more needed now.

His most impactful films were made almost 30 years ago...

Yea, the message is needed, but how many let them cook niggaz gonna download let alone buy a ticket so Spike can talk (or shout) down to them?

Bro, that's EXACTLY what it read like! I started to say it sounded vaguely similar to Blacula.

Good drop on that info!
