I think it's possible Beans tarnished his legacy with all the extra-self medication he's been doing over the years. I think that put him in a spot where it was okay to knock him out. He stopped being Beans to them and they just looked at him as a junkie. However, he doesn't sound like he's in that space now. He sounds like a changed man.
