you aren't supposed to be able to afford a liveable lifestyle if your chosen career path is a fast food cook. get a real job

How is working in fast food not a real job?

its a real job, but its not a job intended to support the lifestyle of an adult (rent, bills, transportation, other living expenses)

why not? what is it "intended" to be?

when you are hired for a job making $8 an hour, you should know exactly what its intended to be

we're saying thats an unreasonable wage, bruh... lol...

so basically the price of food will double

A typical fast-food restaurant spends 30 to 35 percent of its income on labor, according to a recent release from the Employment Policies Institute, a research organization whose work is often cited by those who argue against increasing the minimum wage. The institute estimates that small-business owners who run McDonald's franchises spend about a third of their income on wages, which would mean the price of a Big Mac would go up by $1.28 to $5.27.

It won't double.

then its even more unreasonable to accept a job that that wont cover the costs associated with your lifestyle. You wouldn't jump into a fire and complain about getting burnt. if you can't handle the heat you never should have gone in the kitchen.

every job needs someone to do it. if everyone "got a real job" then who would do the multitudes of jobs that need to get done everyday? is this just like americans being angry at immigrants for taking jobs they don't wanna do?

if someone has a fulltime job, they should make enough to be able to meet their basic needs, and if they don't you are gonna pay for it one way or another

unless you're just cool with people starving in the streets

and jobs like these are usually done by teenagers that only work 20 hrs or so a week, more during the summer.

Ever notice how most jobs like this are staffed with teenagers??? That's because these are jobs for them, not the person with three kids and a mortgage.

I really don't think you get it, either that or you have a bleeding heart that's clouding your judgement.

deep sigh

every other developed nation in the world has free universal healthcare for its citizens. I had hoped Obama would give us the same. He didn't.

are you fucking kidding me ...

show me where we now have government paid healthcare.

BTW, if McDs did up it's wage to $15.....all the minorities would be pushed out in favor of working class Whites. So they're shooting themselves in the foot.

As for the whole "kids work fast food" thing. Difference between kids working a minimum wage job vs an adult working one is that a teen still has majority if not all of their living expenses still being paid for and provided by someone else. That minimum wage doesn't stretch as far when it's your sole income even if it's for a limited period of time you may happen to find yourself working that job once you're older.

This I agree with. They think they're complaining now... See how bad it is when Karen and Chad are handed those jobs.

u work 40 hours a week u deserve a living wage... /thread

no, it's not that simple. You work 40 a week in skilled labor or labor intensive unskilled work, you deserve decent pay.

puttin in 40 at McD's doesn't qualify as either. And, yes, I've worked at McDonalds before (and Arby's, Taco Bell, and other joints). The only hard thing about working at McDonalds is unloading the truck.

Do you feel like professional athletes deserve to be paid millions?

Machines are doing these jobs more and more. Employees pay people what they are worth based on market value. If you're skilled, you can do well, but if you have no skills, then you're easily replaced which is what fast food workers are.

If they don't make enough, then leave, and find a better jo.....oh wait, they have no options, so they should shut their mouths or go learn a useful skill.

GOAT!

OK run along now

I am always serious b.

It'd be one thing if they were arguing for the minimum wage to be increased to the calculated living wage for their area, but that's not the case here.

Let them die.

But that's just it, it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to believe that the people complaining have been in those jobs for more than just a "limited period of time".

right because he created that...lol

and fighting for fairness and humanity is not a "bailout" anyway...

In terms of the actual work they do...why shouldn't they get $15/hour? Like can someone tell me why they shouldn't, besides the fact that historically fast food has been a low paying job?

I'm kinda playing devil's advocate on this one, cuz I don't know if I agree that they should. But I don't think this is ridiculous either.

and what's with these college level engineers technological scientists , mathematical geniuses

making 100,000 plus a year

that are suddenly getting stomp with words??

"earn and deserve "

you not confused, you know what the hell we mean motherfuckers :-w

The average age of a McDonald's employee is 32, so the whole fast food employs only teens isn't true. Plus there are plenty of teens out there who are living on their own.
