Nothing new.

Some prefer Rakim, some prefer Kane...just like some prefer Nas, some prefer Jay.

All of them are G.O.A.T. emcees to me and listened to all their shit. My avi speaks for itself.

The thing is Rakim was way more consistent.

Albums like Taste For Chocolate, Princess of Darkness and Veteranz Day.

Throw most hip hop heads off.

Rakim basically had 3 classics in a row, and 2 good solo albums.

Kane wasn't that consistent and he's my fav.

Menace is buggin, he has Big L in his top 5, nothing to see here.

Taste of Chocolate is dope except for the ballads. Prince of Darkness is pretty bad tho altho the song with Q-Tip & Busta is dope. Never heard Veteranz. Rakim definitely was more consistent, but I you're reaching saying that Ra has 2 good solo albums tho.

How?

He might have one.

Kane all day. Rakim is dope, but Kane was that dude & Long Live the Kane is a personal classic to me & Smooth Operator is one of my favorite singles of all time...probably in my top 10 to 15 range.

I count 1: Paid In Full. Follow the Leader is a disappointment, I didn't like Let The Rhythm Hit Em, but Don't Sweat The Technique was a near classic.

I would put "Don't Sweat the Technique" as a classic with "Paid in Full", agree with the other 2 though.

Chuck d is better than both of them. Lets be honest for a second. Neither Kane or rakim dropped a "classic" album. Kane and Rakim are severely overrated. Chuck d is more lyrical, has more technical rhyme schemes and dropped more black knowledge than both of them combined.
look, i love Chuck D and he's legitimately underrated, but he's not better than Rakim. there's just no way to make that concept work.

Chuck d trumps rakim in every technical area. Vocal, flow, substance. Take away the invisible sucker mc from rakim and you have nothing for him to rap about. Chuck d brought forth concepts into retail rap music. He was writing beyond the realms of a typical rapper back then. What rakim songs are structured around a concept? All rakim rap about is microphones. That shit is boring. Rakim don't have no classic albums. It takes a million took hip hop to a higher level than paid in full. Fear of a black planet was bigger and better than let the snooze button hit em. Don't sweat the technique not even in same ball park as enemy strikes black. Rakim is overrated and not the originator of the lyrical rap style. Lil Rodney started using multis and internal rhyming as early as 1979. Melle Melle and kid creole were rapping like rakim in 1978. Kool moe dee is on battle tapes with this kind of rhyming style in 1980. Even chuck d and Parrish smith were rapping "advanced" in Long Island back in 1982-1983. All these blogs got everyone brainwashed with this rakim goat shit. I can't even name 5 rakim songs if my life depended on it

Melle Mel is the grandmaster of all this shit and Grandmaster Caz is the father of kane and kane birthed jay-z..

My goat list..PAC, Nas, Rakim, Melle Mel, Moe Dee, Kane, Krs, DOC, Cube, Grandmaster Caz

I agree with the pedigree 100%. But your list. Pac and Nas? come on G. You got all the greats but no Slick Rick, LL, Spoonie, or Ice t?

To me they are not. What makes them classic? Your saying Rakim has 4 classics with Eric B?

*Cues X-Files music*

I don't mind whenever either Rakim, Kane, G Rap, KRS, or Nas gets called the GOAT. There are a lot of emcees that can be called the GOAT. Though I won't agree personally, I can even see Jay Pac Big GZA and maybe even Slick Rick being called the GOAT. Hip hop has had tons of good artists.

On this topic though, IMO Rakim is better then Kane.

G Rap might be better then all them though. I could never decide between G Rap and Rakim. G Rap is by far the most underrated, if you listen to his first three albums with DJ Polo, he said everything there is to say with 3 albums and everyone since has been recycling his bars in different ways for years.

Chuck d is way better for a variety of reason ....he was.the essence of rev for a black man not one percent of rapity rapity rap pure fuk a cracker I know im bad swag......yes sirrrrrrr

Don't Sweat The Technique is the only good album.

His first 3 album were classics.
