The music industry is fucked up all around. Thats why u hear cats like jada and ab soul say theyve been sittin on albums for over a year and shit like that angel haze chick leakin her own album. If u dont have a hit or catchy dance song labels aint gon push or put out ur shit period. Nowadays u gotta do all the footwork urself and once u have a big following(asap rocky ,wiz) the labels will put money down to back u.

Kg 1 Kg 2 barely cuz Lotta was spittin in that 2nd.. now going into that third and Lotta killed the end of his third.. on KG now..

I watched that battle atleast 20 times when the bootleg dropped, ill prolly watch the official version in a day or 2.

Question why cant battle rappers make no mainstream noise move units get a record deal or whatever

If you look at Lux for example...hes lyrical he got a following and he pretty much became kind of an icon since the Calicoe thing getting shoutouts by Jay Z and shit. Whats stopping him from and other battle rappers from signing to a label and drop an actual album?

I know songwriting skills are brought up as an issue but if you can break down your opponent in lyrics you should be able to write a hook and three verses for a song it cant be that hard for these dudes.

I'm just wondering why almost no battle rapper has managed to really crossover...or is it more like they dont even want to cause battle rap is getting bigger and bigger

Hook writing is very challenging. It's not easy to come up with something that sticks. Not that I care, as it isn't a priority for me personally but I know other ppl need a catchy hook to be interested in a rap song.

I don't listen to many of their mixtapes so I can't give a fully educated opinion on this . But If you watch their cyphers you'll notice that not many of them have something interesting to say. A lot of them are so preoccupied w/ wordplay for the sake of trying to be "nice" that they fail in the areas of subject matter and lyricism (injecting emotion, creating feeling, capturing a vibe).

We have battle rappers who can make excellent songs. The problem is most fans dont care enough to actually listen to their body of work outside of battle rap such as their music n mixtapes because we box them in as being "just a battle rapper".

Tsu Surf probably makes the best music imo but there are plenty of other guys both current n former battle rappers no matter how good mediocre or bad you think they are at battling that make good music if you give it a chance. Artists are only as big as their fanbase.

Whoever started the phrase "Talk To em!" started it because of Swave Sevah.

I wonder who started that "Talk ya shit/Talk that shit!". I know its not really "original" but they been saying it at battles alot more lately.

I think KG's 'robot' flow is flames forreal.. if that's gonna continue to be his style, it'll be unique, and the crowd will eat that shit up. You hear every bar.. every syllable ha..when he breaks it down like that, I think you notice just how lyrical he is.. its been said before, but KG will be... actually, already is a problem, and someone I'll be lookin forward to see battling in 2014

Sometimes youre a snapbackass fuck boy but I agree with you a thousand in this one.

Lotta Zay coulda had that second round but je lost it for me when he went back talking about having imaginary sex with someones girl he obviously never smashed. Like thats sorta becoming a generic crutch to his rounds. He needs to stop leaning on that. He also really starts his rounds really slow which transkates across to me lack of energy cuz hes not really emphasizing anything powerful when he does that shit. Zay had much better performances than what he displayed. KG on the other hand was consistent from rds 1-3 sorta like BMagic vs Charlie Clips.

Man like I said, I got my money on Hollow. If he goes 2nd, he has a good chance. Cuz i was watchin that verb battle, damn near that whole 2nd round was a freestyle. To come up with all that shit off the top is crazy...

"u said im gonna get the same treatment jesus got?

Im the God MC nigga im jesus pops

u said u gon make my breathin stop

kingz hwy is where im gon leave his top

nigga you'll never survive

if i wanted to come to the lou and battle a bitch i wouldve called out ebony eyez

u talkin bout a scary movies, but its a scary movie bitch

but ima flip it with razor scripts

i got a scream face that fits, jason's fist, but its a west craven script

or this can be your final destination

u can die from vital expiration or a spinal seperation

So if he comes with some ill shit he prepared and can rebuttal lux's shit , he has a good chance.

side note: you ever notice after every major ko punch/uppercut theres a bitch who screams like she got shot (the jesus pops line hollow said/ the thats how u talk to your son verb line) lol
