I saw this tweet posted in the Kendrick DAMN. thread and I chuckled...

I feel and think most women lowkey like misogyny directed towards them (privately) but wanna be down with the feminist crowd and their ideology ... just when it suits them

Is (some) rap music sexist and misogynistic towards women? Yeah most of the time but the music that celebrates women doesn't get burn on the radio like that but I digress...

like that tweet above some or most women would shake their asses to songs depicting them in an unsavoury manner with no fucks given and you got cats in here caping. LOL

And finally feminism in the modern era has to be the biggest con ever. A man who was heard encouraging his friend to just 'grab women by the pussy' was elected as President of the United States

... by a large majority of women

53 percent of white female voters voted for trump... No other race of women voted for trump in large numbers

White women and feminism arent one and the same. Not to mention a large percentage of Americans who didnt vote

And because some women would shake their asses to songs depicting them in an unsavoury manner we shouldnt care what may come of the young consumers or how the music perpetuates misogyny?

This is something the IC can't understand.

If the whole world was just black people, there would still be feminism.

Women would want to be treated like equals if they were all black.

Do you understand why feminism was created in the first place?

Why was it created?

BTW, the actual historical origins of feminism is irrelevant to my point.

Feminism came out of the women's voting movement. But white women didn't want to even give black women the vote.

Your claim that feminism would have happened regardless betrays reality.

expound

the term was coined in 1700s, 1800s in france

but feminist thought existed prior and gender equality was not just a French woman concern

so if the whole world was just black people, there would still be feminism

but i'd argue it would be feminism but known by a different name

A lot of the arguments feminists use to justify equality are based on African tribes that have less gender constriction. If Africans don't promote the problems the same way European culture did how can you say that the same resistance to those problems would have arisen?

Sexism existed within African tribes

Certain tribes women couldn't own land; take multiple spouses same as men; or travel alone

baren women treated like outcasts; girls having to have their clitoires removed

Sexism exist within modern day Africa

Modern day Africa is rife with European influence, though. We can't really make statements about westernized Africa if we are talking about a hypothetical scenario where there are no white people

Sexism thrived and was perpetauted in Africa before the European influence

So feminism would not have arisen in Africa because ... African already embodied feminist ideals?

OK.

The feminism we see now is mostly a response to a European dominated world. If there were no White people it makes no sense to say the same things would have happened.

Yes it is. The suffragettes preceded feminism but feminism followed on its heels. When do you think it developed?

It might not have been called "feminism" but women have had movements pushing for women's equality since the age enlightenment and before (Plato's writngs , middle ages revolts etc what we call "protofeminism" now ) read Mary Wollstonecraft, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman: with Strictures on Political and Moral Subjects 1792 , even way before that:

French writer Christine de Pizan (1364 – c. 1430), the author of The Book of the City of Ladies and Epître au Dieu d'Amour (Epistle to the God of Love) is cited by Simone de Beauvoir as the first woman to denounce misogyny and write about the relation of the sexes. Other early feminist writers include Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and Modesta di Pozzo di Forzi, who worked in the 16th century, and the 17th-century writers Hannah Woolley in England, Juana Inés de la Cruz in Mexico,Marie Le Jars de Gournay, Anne Bradstreet, and François Poullain de la Barre. One of the most important 17th-century feminist writers in the English language was Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

You can't know that for sure. You're just speculating. A lot of the factors that spawned feminism were white specific. A lot of the issues feminism deals with are also white specific. So if the underlying context is different then obliviously whatever results will be different, assuming if and only if anything results at all. Not ever colony rebelled like Haiti despite facing similar conditions. So what makes you think feminism would have still developed?

Most don't even know what they're railing against when they say they hate feminism. Anyone who can't believe that the mere concept of women wanting to be on equal social standing with men would have eventually began no matter what name you call it is being willfully ignorant.

Pretty much feminism was started because white women wanted a seat at the table. Then they recruited black women to help build their numbers and sold them on a lie of ALL women empowerment. Yet when stuff happens to black women at the hands of white men these feminist groups are quiet.

Women were treated poorly all over the world. If what you're saying is true we would have seen feminism all over the world. Instead, it's mostly been in white countries.

Can you answer this question: Are black women OK with being subordinated to men (unlike white women)?

You're making it sound like they have no interest in being equal with men, but are simply dupes of white women.

Men historically have always been the leaders of the household and there was always a power structure. Men unquestioned leaders, women 2nd in command then the children in order of age. Men were the breadwinner of the family so naturally there was some level of subordination of women to their men regardless of race.

The problem isn't women wanting equal rights. The problem is the fact that feminism was started because the white women wanted the same benefits that their white male counterparts received which said benefits were attained based on the subjugation of black people. So when you consider this why would ANY black woman support feminism? And when I say feminism I'm talking about identifying with it and being apart of these feminist groups.

Why would any black woman support feminism? Cause it is fundamentally about achieving equality for women.

There is so much confusion in your post. Even if the early feminists were racists, that does not mean that current feminists have to be racists as well. Nor does it mean that the character of feminism was fixed once and for all by what white feminists were arguing in 1900.

Feminism is about achieving the same benefits as their white male counterparts. To be on even footing with them. Do you think white women want to share these benefits with black women. Let me ask you a question since you are naive enough to believe their bullshit. If it's about "equality" then why do they rarely say anything when white males harm black women? They only seem to make a fuss when a black man harms a black woman.

We don't know if the current feminists are racists or not so therefore when you consider how/why that organization was formed any white woman claiming it is suspect in my eyes.

Pretty much feminism was started because white women wanted a seat at the table. Then they recruited black women to help build their numbers and sold them on a lie of ALL women empowerment. Yet when stuff happens to black women at the hands of white men these feminist groups are quiet.

Can you answer this question: Are black women OK with being subordinated to men (unlike white women)?

You're making it sound like they have no interest in that, but are simply dupes of white women.

Feminism is not about achieving equality for white women only. You are assuming again that the goals of early white feminists must be the current goals of feminism.

They do speak out.

You really don't know what you are talking about. What about what I said yesterday about how there would be feminism (whether it was called that or something else) even if the whole world was just black?

Most don't even know what they're railing against when they say they hate feminism. Anyone who can't believe that the mere concept of women wanting to be on equal social standing with men would have eventually began no matter what name you call it is being willfully ignorant.

Women were treated poorly all over the world. If what you're saying is true we would have seen feminism all over the world. Instead, it's mostly been in white countries.

It was and its well documented

Where was the feminism outside of the West?

You need to start read and research the following countries and people in the 17/18/19th centuries:

Egypt (read up on Huda Sha'arawi or Qasim Amin)

Iran (research Jam'iyat-e Nesvan-e Vatankhah)

Japan ( read up on Fusae Ichikawa)

China (He Zhen ,Yu Zhengxie and Yuan Mei.

India (read up on Savitribai Phule or Tarabai Shinde)

Africa (not a country obviously) women like Adelaide Casely-Hayford, the Sierra Leonian women’s rights activist referred, Charlotte Maxeke who in 1918 founded the Bantu Women’s League in South Africa.Ndate Yalla Mbodj, Nzinga , Nehanda etc.

its not hard dude all you gatta is library this shit or do your googles. Its obsurd to assume womens rights are solely exclusive to western ideology.

Yes yes it is about gaining a seat next to their white male counterparts. If you joined an organization do you not do research into the history of said organization? Who started it and why? You think these white feminists don't know this? They only use black women for a numbers game and since black society is so fractured it's easy to pit black people against each other and even fight against their self interest. If they speak out then why were there little to no outrage by them over Sandra Bland or over many of the cases where race soldiers assault black women? But they'll raise hell when a black man harms a black woman.
