Lol I've said this time and time again TRAP RAP DOESNT SELL when u drop a album u selling to the masses

An we know damn well black folks ain't buying that shit especially in this climate

Hell I got YRN album for free when I downloaded it off sharebeast

but according to cats "atlanta running hip hop" or "atlanta running atl radio". After low sales for a lyrical rapper niggas saying "nobody wants that boring shit". But now migos sold andre 12k and niggas making excuses.

nobody expecting migos to go triple plat first week. But 12k my nigga? thats sad as fuck for migos.

I go to Atl alot cuz my bm live there and I'll be the 1st to tell you Atl does kind of run hip hop (alittle)

Most rappers come to Atl to pop off now

An the south is all on the air waves

Unfortunately Atl is also the city of one hit wonders and is now for making trap/club music

For the URBAN environment not the mainstream

It's basically the city of short term music that doesn't last the days of outkast have long passed

Shyd the city even has the label of Black Hollywood cuz anyone can become famous there

I swear there's a new trap rapper dropping every week out here in this city and they all sound like carbon copies but hey if thats what the radio wanna push that's just how it is

I blame the new generation of dumb ass teens

Migos doin' Troy Ave numbers? Im seriously having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

Do niggas need to start reevaluating this whole club / radio hits = record sales mentality? Did Future just make it hard to eat for the other trap niggas? Even if that's the case, I would have expected DS2 to outsell Meek's drop considering the catchy tunes he has in comparison, but Meek outsold the nigga by over 100 thousand units first week. I honestly don't get it. These niggas who are dominating radio aren't necessarily selling records.

Might have to judge cats like this by their singles sales.....That might explain why they're in rotation, crazy how this shyt is though.....

Previous quotes

Unpopular = God like status on a message board (Nas, Jay Electronica, Big Krit, Royce)

When i said popular i meant in the traditional sense of record sales, awards, top 10 hits, superstardom, platinum plaques

And then this

Forget sales

Migos makes great music and is easily the best group out that is all that matters

The hypocrisy...lol Guess that record sales shyt is used conveniently...lol

my moms cousin (who is closer to me in age) stay out there and does photos for clubs and the atl ablum release signings so i always had fam out there. but when you think about it airwaves are pushed my labels.

when it comes to album sales and big national tours nobody from the A really doing that on a large level. Think about the hottest national tours of the summer:

J Cole Forest Hillls Drive (north carolina)

Drakes select summer shows in a few arenas + ovo fest (toronto)

Nikki and Meek Minaj Pinkprint tour (headliner nikki from NYC)

You can't run something if you can't get urban audiences from every major city to fill up big venues. Like you said its a bunch of 1 hit wonders getting label paid radio spins. But few people from the A can be or have a large national tour.

What type of numbers did you expect them to do for this to be a flop?? 10-20k is about what most 3rd or 4th string rappers are selling these days

White privilege because a guy who raps primarily to middle class suburban white kids and experiences that resonate with them in a 70 percent white country sells more then some niggas from Atlanta who most of America has never heard of talking about trapping. Got it. Some smart people on here but yall prejudices are affecting your ear for rap.

You just described exactly how it was white privilege at work by trying to suggest that it wasn't.

My argument is, there are no numbers here to support radio constantly force feeding niggas this wack shit. Its absolutely ridiculous.

You mean to tell me niggas like Joey Bada$$ is out here outselling Migos 5 to 1, beating Rae Sremmurd as well first week with all their commercial exposure from Hot and every other radio station in the country; every dingy ass club... and the young nigga can't get some spins on primetime? Where is the validation for this? Future out here dominating airwaves and clubs as we speak with about 3 joints floating around, but another nigga has outsold him by a factor of 70% and isn't getting that burn.

If Migos couldn't make those numbers, then there is no way in hell Rich Homie is going to breach, and Young Thug also pretty much flopped first week (18k). But I can't turn on the fuckin radio without these niggas floodin' my shit. Why dawg? There are other niggas who are selling more, and touring just as much with large crowds. The numbers seem to imply that nobody wants to hear that shallow shit. Or at the very least, imply that they want to hear the other niggas more.

niggas don't wanna listen to Joey on the radio...album sales don't mean that much anymore. People would rather listen to Future over Joey any day of the week

a lot of people wanna hear shallow shit, they just don't wanna pay for it. the music you pay for is the music you're actually gonna be listening to outside of the club/parties/radio on your own time. i wouldn't pay for a migos album, but i respect their place in hip hop. strippers are not about to gyrate their asses to some boombap song about racial inequality, but some of them might chill at the house, and listen to erykah badu on their days off... it's a time and place for everything.

That don't explain why these nig nogs are still in heavy rotation on the radio, fam.

It looks like Joey Bad's fans are putting up the dollas, so why isn't the radio catering to them instead of these nigga's with throwaway singles?

And fuck the strippers, daaawg. Fuck that entire scene. On God.

You clearly don't like the "Atlanta Sound"....get used to it nigga. It aint going anywhere lol @sr_the_freshman

This year been a great year for hip hop. Even in sells. Trash is not being bought.

Honestly the only Atlanta sound I can fuck with is Future, Father, Key!, and that's about it. I'm sure when Gucci get out I'll listen to his shit . the rest of the music in Atlanta is not for me. I just can't do Migozs, K Camp, Peewee Longway, Young Dolph, Young Thug, etc.

Edit: That "preach", and " hot boy " dude is catchy tho.

Dolph ain't from Atlanta

Thug>>>>Future

This is just Travis Porter 2.0......3 niggas from the A with a few catching ring tones then a couple of years later we wont even hear from them again until they respawn into another group.

They not trash but I don't even wanna download they music fa free. Listening to they music in the club is coo or pregaming before going out but that's about it.

Honestly I don't see why any grown person would wanna buy an album nowadays. Shit be watered down, songs we already heard on mixtapes and like 12 songs, 3 being skits. Not to mention the whole album be on streaming apps and YouTube.
