Am i racist to dislike Black artists using white or very lightskinned love interests in their vids?

You got every right.

I would say though, that for a long time artists been disconnected from their videos... shit, nowadays they even get away with being detached from their lyrics (ex. ghostwriters; the pass Drake gets).

How many times you hear them say that the video was directed by "______".

I think it's bullshit tho. If I'm the artist, I'm not going to be ok with a video that goes against what I believe in. But, again, these artists hardly be having control over shit ... or some of them might actually like those types of chicks ?

I outgrew hip hop videos. I don't like rick and michonne being together in the walking dead. I don't respect sasha's feelings for Abraham.

Cats can downplay it, say "black is black", say "they're bigger things to worry about"," I don't care", etc. but the reality is there is a deliberate effort to marginalize Black women and/or Black women beyond a certain skin tone. The examples are endless:

That's the actress they picked to play Harriet Tubman in the Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter movie. But she still Black so I guess it doesn't matter.

I agree, and I especially don't like when they are rapping about how successful they are and the love interests or whatever are white, as if there is no surer sign of having made it than the fact that you are now fucking white women.

I'm also against putting light-skinned "black" women in so many of these videos to a lesser extent.

People complained that Denzel Washington wasn't the correct shade to play Malcom X too...when it comes to movies so long as it's not something egregious and the person is actually talented then a shade or 2 don't really make a difference.

Why is saying that if you're black you're black nonsense? Is there some measure for how black you are based on your skin tone?

If "black is black" then there is nothing to complain about when dark-skinned blacks are marginalized, as High Revolutionary put it.

The "Black is black" idea just blinds us to colourism. It's like white folks saying "it doesn't matter what race you are."

I don't say black is black to deflect from colorism. I say that to combat the idea that you can somehow be blacker than somebody else simply because of your skin tone. Or having a preference for a certain type of skin tone makes you more or less black than someone else. I've actually asked dark skin women about dudes who make it a point to say how much they like dark skin women and except for a couple I've always been told it makes them feel like the dude sees their skin tone as a fetish, not that they actually like them as a woman.

@fortyacres Are you racist? Absolutely not! Only thing you done is give us YOUR opinion, which there's nothing wrong with. And being black in America, we can't be racist based on how the system is ran anyway. Just bigots.

And whats's wrong with saying "black is black?" That's what the majority of whites do to us anyway. Right? So for African Americans to separate African American men and women based off different tones IS COLOR ISM. THE MASTER PLAN!

I mean, how can you be mad at this:

It would be interesting to see the flip side of this though, because you can definitely tell there's alot of dudes who are also insecure as fuck when it comes to light skin niggas with all the "jokes" that get thrown out about light skin niggas being naturally softer, weaker, and more emotional.

Ah these American black people... so amazingly lazy to think and easy to manipulate.

Its OBVIOUS THAT DARKSKIN IS NOT / SCARCELY HIGHLIGHTED AS SEXY OR BEAUTIFULL IN THE MEDIA. Just do the MATH.

ITS OBVIOUS THAT NAPPY HAIR IS NOT DEEMED SEXY OR BEAUTIFULL IN THE MEDIA. ill change my mind ... WHEN I SEE A CHANGE IN THE MEDIATIC PRESENCE. ITS SIMPLE.

Its like that idiot of south african white woman that make her black son WEARING DRESSES!

Some of yall see it like ITS JUST HALLOWEEN and even SHRUGG!!! Looooool. If yall dont see the representatation of A SLAVERY TIMES CASTRATION yall just have been JIM CROWED.

And media have no effect for people who dont watch it. If your sons and daughters do THEN THEY WILL INGEST AND DIGEST THE CODES AND PROGRAMMS UNLESS YOU ARE THER TO COUNTERCODING AND COUNTERPROGRAMING!!

SO EASY TO DO WHEN YOU GOT TO DO 3 JOBS TO PAY BACK YOUR STUDENT LOANS AND SUV YOU CANT AFFORD!!!

To be Fair, Rappers/Artist are not picking Video Vixens, they just show up to film with all that having been picked by production already.

Really not a big deal, aint no one standard of beautiful and Weave Like European and Skin Bleaching DAMN SURE aint gonna fix anything. Name me one female artist either in the Music Industry Or Hollywood who bleached their skin and end up becoming more successful because of it?
