“Rap, Hip Hop has always been mad competitive,” K.R.I.T. said Tuesday. “It's exciting because it was probably crazier for his fans, for him to mention my name among rappers that people would consider top tier, [rappers] people kind of look at as being the future and my name just randomly popped up. So what I got an opportunity to see a little bit last night and this morning, was just people that probably never tweeted me before, whether it be negative or positive. For me, it was like, ‘Thank you for the promotion.’"
Kendrick Lamar's verse may introduce new fans to K.R.I.T. who were previously unaware of his skills as a lyricist, he said.
“It let people know that, ‘Yeah, I'm from the South and yeah, I'm country but you ain’t going to take me lightly," K.R.I.T. said. "Aint none of these rappers going to take me lightly on a record.’ And [Kendrick Lamar] know that. So that's why my name ended up on that list. If you think about ‘1 Train,’ or any record, I’ma give my all. People know that I'm a lyricist and I can compete with some of the best and it is what is. I appreciate the shout out because that’s really what it is. It’s a competitive sport; it’s a gladiator sport. Don't nobody want to get murdered on a record. That just it is what is. So I don’t know, brother. I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ It is what it is. Thank you for the shout out and shout out to all the fans that he may have that didn't know about my music and now they gon’ go back and listen to records and check out ‘1 Train,’ and want to know why he felt the need to mention my name. And I’m 100% sure he probably gets tired of going to barbershops and hearing my name mentioned where he is and vice-versa. It's all good man. It's all within the sport.”

I get what he's saying, but nigga rap this shit. Don't do an interview about it. Go back in the booth or release some of this music you got saying you the best. This shit here is what I have an issue with

It takes a verse like Kendricks to show how average most these new nggas are! Aside from Jay elec, the guys name droped are Average! They get good production and tell oaisionally good stories, but they are not it. Not in comparison to thier pedecessors. Thank you Kendrick Lamar (who is overhyped himself) for highlighting exctly that point.
However...Now watch Joe Budden show that Kendrick is not '90s nice' either and show the even higher level
What the hell is 90's nice? If a rapper is nice he's nice. It's like when people say certain athletes wouldn't be good if they played in the past. If you're good enough your talent will always shine through. Not every rapper in the 90's was "90's nice" yet we still remember their songs and fuck with their music.
Oh really?
90's nice is just a metpahor for 'back in the day'...i wont even bring up the literal 90's and the obvious fact that rappers then are better than those now. Wont even bring it up.
But even the early 2000s nggas were '90s nice'
When the last time you listened to Beans n Jada's beef? Compare it to this.
Jay vs Nas (of course). Compare it to this.
When the last time you listened to Jada easily embarass and destroy 50 lyrically...with ALL TRUTH...no metaphors. Compare it to this.
State Property killin it at Hot 97 w/ Jay-z losin his mind...that same night Cassidy damn near birthed battle rap as we STILL know it now, by murderin Freeway...i could go on and on
The competition level is lower now, Period.
I mean, just LOOK at the names he mentioned as his compettion...Asap Rocky....Meek Mill...Mac Miller (kys w/ the 'mac miller got bars' shyt) Gtfoh.
Shyt is like Bosie State football goin 13-0 every fukin year Lol Nobody cares b/c i know they aint beatin nobody.
"It ain't about how many fIghts you had, it's who you fought"
You too busy comparing shit from a decade and 2 decades ago that you missing out on what is actually happening right now. 90's nice makes no damn sense because for one you're eliminating anything that came before then which means you're cutting off alot of hip-hop greats that weren't that big in the 90's but were nice before then. Think about how many legendary rappers who came out in the 80's but flamed out by the 90's yet we still hold them up. Do they not count because they're not "90's nice"? You can't compare actual beefs to this shit because this is NOT a beef/diss. The things you listed were all rappers who had legit issues with each other and it was more than some "I'm the best rapper" shit it was literally on some "If I see you we fighting" type shit. You've heard Beans and Jada speak on their beef. That shit was real beef between two crews who just happened to rap as well. We just happened to get some good diss songs out of it. Competition doesn't mean niggas have to beef and dislike each other, it just means nobody slacks off when it comes to proving they're the best. Which can be done w/o all the extra shit being done off records.
