Another smart/dumb nigga trying be insightful, but I digress.

Kanye is mostly bitching about why he is not a billionaire and why he is not accepted in high-end fashion. There's no discussion or debate regarding saving lives, ending poverty, or uplifting his people spiritually. And you fell for it.

Nobody asked him about spiritual upliftment or any thing like that dumb-dumb. He clearly said he don't give a fuck what anyone thinks or expects of him.

He's a rich nigga bitching about rich nigga problems. Stop expecting entertainers to be role models. Let that nigga cook

charlamagne was right on with the ? why u equate money with freedom my brother? ye couldnt answer it. ye came off as a brat who is throwing hissy fits cuz white folk wont let him have his way. dont yall compare what he talking bout to PAC.

Well try to live without money and see how free you are, it's crazy how people talk like this, but wouldn't dare quit their job. It's a harsh reality, but honestly the only way you can truly be free without money is if you're a survivalist. With specialization very few have all the knowledge necessary to truly provide for themselves without having to resort to the economic system for goods and services and those with expertise in a particular area. Money alone doesn't equal freedom but it's definitely a large sum of the pie, which is why I see where he's coming from when he says that we're all slaves.

Kanyes argument stem from how we're trivialized. Them labeling his clithing line urban is some segregated shit. Its like saying Denzel is a great black actor. Racists like to box you in.

True.

But he should and can start his shit and stop begging for acceptance. At worst, get a white front guy if you feel they black balling you- the Chinese do it all the time-

I think his whole argument is the infrastructure point. He can only get so far being indy. You need financial backing to do shit. These rich whites don't come out of pocket, the banks do. Which is another form of racist ass institutionalize racism.

The gate keepers will only allow you to get so far. There are only a few people ib this world who possess power.

How many banks told Walt Disney no?

Where did Steve Jobs start?

If you beholden to them they will keep you down. He should keep his head down and do his thing. 10,000 hours if need be

Kanye is annoying as fuck like this nigga in his feelings cuz his favorite designers or whatever won't accept him. Nigga needs to just make his own independent attire or whatever and do his own thing. I see where he's coming from sometimes, but then he just fucks it up by sayin some dumbshit lol.

I know I'm late but I just finished listening to the interview. I didn't understand everything Kanye was saying. Charlamagne asked the right questions, but 'Ye was kinda out there. Interview was aiight. Didn't expect much from it and got what I thought I'd get from it.

Steve Jobs didn't keep his head down. He was a asshole and a Shark. Outside of his vision, he was a damn fool. I mean, he ended his life early by not seeking proper treatment, and relied on bullshit miracle diets which made matters worse. Still it was his abrasiveness that made him powerful, for example, him moving on Xerox and snatching up all of their ideas which led to the PC. Kanye is trying to Maneuver within so he can infiltrate and turn up when the moment is right. He's trying to get to a level only obtainable (because control by the few is real) by playing with the high rollers and trumping them when your hand is right but you gotta know how to play which is why he said he shadowed Jay-Z.

To all of the people in here saying that financial empowerment is anything short of absolutely key in correcting the state of afro americans in this country please give me a SINGLE example of any sort of long-term positive changes that these "broke revolutionaries" have facilitated/influenced? Why are so many black people content with being hardcapped financially? Kanye was exactly right, as long as someone is signing your check, you're a slave. As long as you need to go to some bank for a loan to accomplish something(black people are also hardcapped on the size of business loans that we can recieve), you're a slave. Black people are all talk but when one of us tries to step up and do something, the crabs come right out of the woodwork.

Black people have been shut out of pretty much ALL distribution companies, and that's where the money is at in ANY industry. What Kanye is saying is that we need more black billionaires so that we can gain a GLOBAL VOICE because we don't have one. We have absolutely no influence on ANY global-scale decision has been made/is being made right now. Some of our more enlightened niggas feel some type of way about that. For all the talk of doing it by himself, show me one example of a black person that has successfully started a clothing line and worked it up to the gucci/givenchy/versace level? FUBU? Rockawear? Karl Kani? None of those brands even came close. How would the result be any different for Kanye? Especially since he's already proven that his previous fashion joint ventures have ALL BEEN SUCCESSFUL?

This shit is deeper than rap, it's deeper than clothes. It's about distribution. Kanye feels he has a calling in clothes and he feels like he kick the billionaire club's door in through that industry. More fucking power to him. He's in a position to at least attempt it, so why shouldn't he? He wasn't the first to try. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, P Diddy, Suge Knight, Marvin Gaye, Same Cook as well as many other black artists expressed interest in starting an all-black music distribution company in order to break into that billionaire club. How many of those people are alive today? How many of those people didn't have their names run through the mud in the media? I mean diddy has a body and almost went to jail for shooting a club up. Suge Knight is broke in and out of jail gettin knocked out by small niggas outside of clubs. Michael Jackson would actually be a billionaire if he were alive today, his estate clears over a billion a year and it's still gaining more and more profits. This shit is deeper than music

If extreme confidence in oneself is some kind of mental illness then I probably have that same shit that Kanye has. I think his problem is that he thinks faster than he talks(I have the same issue) so he comes off as intense when he's just trying to get a bunch of points across at once. I think he's frustrated because of how dense a lot of niggas seem to be. C tha god is a funny guy but after this interview I'm forced to question his intelligence because this nigga was letting gems go completely over his head

I gotta say that after reading this thread I'm a little frustrated too. A lot of you niggas really need to learn some critical thinking skills

Duck Tales (who knows what's true or urban legend) is 300 banks turned down Walt.

I'm all for financial empowerment, I mean my man look at my screen name. But whining won't get you anything. Reminds me of Malcolm talking about sit ins, if they don't want in their establishments, create our own stop giving them your money.

@xxcivicxx bank loans are limited by size if you are a registered minority company and get a loan from SBA.

Michael Jackson is a goat for ATV music but a dumb ass for running into debt so much that he had to sell pieces to Sony.

IIRC $2 million is the cap for black people when it comes to business loans in general. I can't think of a single afro american whose ever gotten a loan larger than that in order to start a business

And it was the numerous child molestation cases thrown at him(none of which stuck) that drained him financially. No matter how much of that publishing he sold back, he was still considered a major threat by record execs, and his estate is still in aggressive contention because it paid off all of it's debt within like 3 years and is already worth billions

I cosign this post. I'm going through what Kanye is going through to an extent, but I try not to let it get me too angry. I know what's like to be ahead of your time and be ambitous, but be surrounded by happy go lucky, small minded niggas who don't see the bigger picture. So it's like your speaking a different language have to time because you going over "negroes" heads(which ain't hard to do). All in all I hope Kanye succeeds and grows in whatever endeavor he pursues, but he does need to work on his approach when it comes to dealing with people, he needs to learn better patience, tact, and humility. All that matched with ambition is deadly, if you going at corporations you gotta be times more focused and can't get flustered. Kanye got the right idea but he needs to work on himself a little more, maybe he does need a new circle of friends.

All that shit he said about blacks not having power or any connections is on point that shit makes it a thousand times harder to prevail, because you gotta go outside you're racial/class group for money to get a project started or start up funding and the risk is magnified when you approach a investor/bank due to you're class or racial background they'll not fund you even if you got your i's dotted and t's crossed so it's a catch 22. I just hope I make it so I can give ambitious "blacks" a hand up that I didn't receive when starting out so this damn cycle of mediocrity and failure will stop. BTW all that shit Kanye is saying in regards to financial freedom, Claude Anderson, Malcolm X, Amos Wilson and Marcus Garvey already elaborated on it( and much more coherently), it's just that "negroes" are hard headed, ignorant. and selfish so they never get the message

Part of me wonders if he bringing up black financial independence (all true) is a way of garnering sympathy from people who think like me when all along he wants to be in Paris with one of them French designers. This is the same guy that doesn't want hiphop played in his house right? Just thinking out loud

i like kanye

But his answer were no better or insightful than an Atlanta housewife

And if you are really trying to make him deep

Stop reading tmz, blogs, and twitter and read a book

Please

Trick Daddy has better insight than a self proclaimed Steve jobs

I think dude has done his homework, This is the same shit 2pac was spitting when he was on his black panther tip...before the rape conviction...Dude was more intense with his movement and direct about it to these white folks, (this is what and why pac stayed in the news) but Kanye is doing it on a more business-type level per say than what 2pac was speaking on...he has money and still can't get doors open, 2pac was speaking on the ppl that didn't have money and couldn't kick down the doors, (and this is what Chamlamane was saying about not needing money and he liking his revolutionist being broke and for the ppl (2pac)) two different views/platforms from 2pac and Kanye West, but both men are speaking on the same thing...

both geminis and both got that black panther blood in them
