You have to build a monopoly and he is using his fame as a shortcut. I have no real problem with that but it will only take you so far. The sneakers was ok but if Spalding mad them no one would care. They sold because of his name and niggas will buy anything with Nike on it. I just suggest stop ranting put out some nice designs and let your work speak. Dudes don't start for the Yankees. Even Jordan went to the minors.

Nike has Jordan and other brands but Adidas has cut out a high end niche with their Y3 line. They on Gucci level with them shits. I think he will do good going with them. Kanye trying to own teams not play a position. Jordan is mentioned because of what he did outside of basketball with his kicks which is as grand as his efforts on the court.

But even Jordan is just a figurehead. Personally I'm not into high end sneakers. They look to basic to cost that much but I won't stop someone else

This is great .... I feel what Yeezy is talking about ...conceptually he's making perfect sense and I think everyone can identify with being marginalized in today's society in some sort of respect whether it be due to class race title position whatever you want to call it ... But since Kanye is this megastar I think he looses people trying to play to that appeal because generally the average person wouldn't expect to hear a guy in his position going thru these sorts of setbacks ...so to speak... That's why CTHEG dismissed some of the shit he was saying as merely "rich nigga problems" but in all actuality Ye is talking about shit that applies to people especially blacks on all levels ...

Oh and he was shitting on C at the end with that Sarcasam

And I'm still not feeling that confederate flag shit ... I figured he would go the whole "I'm changing the connotation" route with his explanation of why he's using it ..but that shit still Wack to me

@xxCivicxx Stop no-signing my posts and answer my question: What does Kanye getting distributed by a major fashion house have to do with Black Financial Independence?

Sorry nigga I'm not gonna hold your hand through the entire learning process. That's why you're so confused about all the shit that I'm posting now. Apply that brain of yours and think. In your opinion, how would a black man kicking in the door of a multi-billion dollar global industry(primarily controlled by whites for much of recent history) contribute to afro americans gaining economic strength/independence? I can only post so many titangraphs before I have to give up on some of you niggas. If you actually want to understand then ACTUALLY MAKE AN ATTEMPT AT UNDERSTANDING

Yeah okay guy so basically you don't understand either so now you're being condescending to deflect...well played. He's not talking about building his own distribution he wants in on theirs..nothing INDEPENDENT about that. Good day sir.

The thing about being independent, its a major risk....no matter who tries it…

So him rattling off the names of designers is his way of saying that the diaspora needs to focus on economic empowerment?

His quest to make the flyest Yeezy is really a quest to stop violence in Chicago?

We believe u. U have enough ppl.

Once again, people such as Michael Jackson made the EXACT same kind of speeches against music execs like Tommy Motola. Kanye's passion for black clothing distribution is very similar to MJ's passion for black music distribution(black musical business sense in general)

Michael Jackson tried to go it alone in several of his ventures, and almost went broke because of it.

C?!

Kanye basically said he's tried the independent route. It takes longer and the manufacturing companies u have to deal with, are already monopolized by a certain group of companies already.

He isn't necessarily begging the fashion industry to get in. He's bullying them, or in some of y'alls opinion, making an ass of himself .

Either way he's doing what he can to break through.

Y is he using this method? Because niggaz said he wasn't gonna make it as a rapper and they were proved wrong by his determination.

Ipso facto, he's gonna use that drive and reluctance to listen to what niggaz say "he can do", and continue to achieve his dreams.

Another reason I believe he's hounding these companies is because they use niggaz n e way.

But will not let one of us sit at the "table".

So he can struggle from the ground and possibly fail like sway.

Or he can continue his independent hustle AND get on these industry giants that own everything to put him on so he could possibly, kick in the door for niggaz. And primarily leave some form of a legacy, which he feels blacks in general, do not have.

I say possibly cause of bob Johnson.

As simple as I can put it, that's what I got from this interview.

Bro this post made sense and answered my question. That other nigga Civic is an asshole

Like somebody stated before people are not hearing or wanting to take the message serious because of the messenger. He does need to work on his approach but what he stated all made 100% sense to me.

I hope the guy gets his foot really in the door and doesn't forget about all the other people who constantly gets marginalized and gives them a shot also.

Kanyes fashion is dog turds anyway, if i was one of these big time guys i would refuse to meet with him too, get over it kanye your clothes are wank and at this moment in time so is your music, close thread.

Albeit a personal belief, I'd like to offer a distinction here.

Kanye's fashion sense is good.

Kanye's design sense is not.

The Yeezy's are his crowned achievement as a designer: But Pastelle (though it was anticipated), dW, the capsule collection with APC (though it made headlines), etc ~ have all been generally frowned upon. dW specifically, was ass.

Kanye's ambition is admirable, but his showings as a designer however, are not.

Personally, I fully support the level of control that he wishes to grant Black Creatives. As a business move, it has world changing potential. But his skills as a designer himself are questionable.
