Samsung has purchased 1 million copies of Jay-Z’s coming album, entitled “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” slated for release July 4, and plans to give them to Samsung Galaxy smartphone users for free – 72 hours ahead of the release. The users are to receive the music through an app they’ll receive later this month. (Recipients won’t be able to share it until the official release date.)

Samsung paid $5 apiece for the albums, according to a person familiar with the matter. It wasn’t immediately clear if Nielsen SoundScan will count Samsung’s purchases in its sales tallies.

man Jay had many chances to have an innovating record, he blew that chance when he backed out of letting dilla produced majority of the cuts on an album that he wanted to do with dilla before dilla got sick.

false, jay was on Juan epstein and said he never met dilla. He said Bee High knew dilla and dilla gave him some beats for jay

Smh @ mentioning Cole, Wale...and shyt even Kanye

The buildup to a Jayz album is a different level...theres levels to this shyt lol

Lmao @ how Yeezus immediately feels like old news...before its officially dropped

that was probably true after the black album

but since he retired and released 6379638457 albums

the hype aint what you perceive it to be

@usmarine nigga dont come for me

ANYWAY

they're basically giving away 1 million digital copies before its released

so project should be interesting

last jay z album that moved me was American Gangster

Magna Carta Holy Grail" with JAY Z + Samsung

Okay had to watch the commercial, Now as a hip-hop head I always thought Jay-Z should let Rick Rubin produced his whole album, because Rick will bring the best purest street raw hip-hop disciple of CAZ and Kane out of Jay-z and make him do some EMCEE shit...

2:26 sounds like a Rubin production

Seen Rick Rubin which makes me think that Rubin will produce and be apart of the album...

Now the bad Timb, Pharrell and Swizz damn it, Hov the same ol shit with the usual suspects.....

I hope Rubin have atleast 7 solo produce cuts on the album and it will be an automatic Cop

Jay let Cole get mad attention by announcing his album 2 days before Born Sinner was even released. He have J. Cole all the shine.

Man after this Cole album and Kanye's masterpiece it's looking like 2013 is gonna top 1996.

Jay never drop two straight dud (solo) albums. I'm sure this album will have AOTY potential. I can't wait.

sometimes i wonder if you even read what you type

I'm hoping for a straight rap album. Not a lot of features, hard beats, no commercial shit. He been on a roll this last half year and been killin his guest verses. The late announcement could mean he bout to pull a Kanye without mainstream singles....I got high hopes

false I never said he met dilla, Guru introduced some beats by Dilla to Jay, Jay liked what he heard and wanted more beats because he never heard of dilla and wanted to go left field on an album, and Young Guru wanted the abstract so-called album to have majority of dilla beats, Guru was leading the charge for a majority dilla produced album, but shit went a different route
