Jay-Z - 'Magna Carta Holy Grail'

This album shouldnt even be mentioned with RD, Vol 2, or BP for obvious reasons that should not need explanation

It doesnt have the soul, cohesiveness, and GOAT song order/flow of AG

Sound-wise, its maaaybe similar to BA in that its a new batch of production types for Jay z, but unlike BA there is no Allure, My 1st song, Dec. 4, Lucifer emotion...and he def aint spittin lyrically the same.

Then theres Vol. 1, the so called 'pop' album. A 'pop' album with Where im from, Lucky Me, You must love me, Imaginary player...Sound wise i can see the argument to say MCHG is better, but LYRICALLY...LYRICALLY...Jay back then was a damn monster, even on the most BS pop songs he spit FLAMES.

You cant just disregard that, so imo MCHG is only ahead of Vol. 3, BP3, and KC definitively. Dynasty is tough to grade but i still wouldnt put MCHG ahead just yet b/c Dynasty also had hits, lyrical wizardry, and most importantly depth.

95 feeling like 105 out here gonna bring out the grill, put the liquor in the coolers, speakers on deck and gonna be like this while i let this shit knock

Adding the million already sold, i say 1.6 mill.. im coppin first day

So really 600 k. Great numbers tho

If mothafuckas aint discrediting them lady gaga sales then shut up about these.. basically he got paid for the same shit he would have missed out on n illegal downloads

Lol at niggas details deciding niggas can't rank the album yet? What's the time limit cocksuckers? It ain't like we ranking jay against anyone but himself. Shit is up there with reasonable doubt, American gangster, black album, for me. Its the bridge between American gangsta nd rd.

Nigga loves being on but hates that him being on makes niggas feel left out. Basically its this emotional ass thread in a nut shell. Some people hate it because he ain't Reasonable doubt jay. Some love it because they want to expand too. You not being able to relate to exactly what another man enjoys and dismissing it as a result is mindless kid shit. If a Nigga can afford anything and shares with you what it its like in a sport that entails bravado and you complain about him mentioning art, his money, European culture, his beautiful wife, and what its like in this uncharted territory then it can be very simply explained how and why you're a hater.

That choppy flow is jays flow. He has always done it. Its more clever than the dumb Nigga rappers skipping syllables all together? Wordplay and identifying his purpose is what gives jay longevity and relistenability. Keep listening. He has a purpose. To dismiss it is stupid. He kicks knowledge, talks shit, and gives his personal story with relateability for everyone.

This nigga still going on and on about an album he doesnt even fuck with

Im puttin shyt in perspective. I can simultaneously like an album but still not get caught up in the moment and call it 'one of his bests'.

Its called being objective.

Whoa people in here calling Vol. 1 a pop album? LMAO this is why I barely participate in this section anymore. There are too many illogical posters in this bitch.

A Million & One Questions/Rhyme No More

Imaginary Player

Streets is Watching

Lucky Me

Real Niggaz

You Must Love Me

Rap Game/Crack Game

Who You Wit II

Friend or Foe '98

Are some of the wittiest, most creative, introspective and soulful songs in the man's career. That's more than 85% of the album right there. It's one thing to say that the sequencing on the album is off cause some songs threw the pacing off thanks to their placement. Hell I finally replaced I Know What Girls Like with Wishing on a Star as originally in my itunes intended thanks to advantages of the digital age but to say it's corny and pop? lmao

Personally I think Jay-Z making songs like Tom Ford at his age is cornier and more laughable than anything he was doing in his late 20's.

You obviously ain't listing to lyrics nigga ..... For example "allure" and "holy grail" are essentially the same song in regards to lyrical content .... lyrical execution? May be up for debate ... But the content is very similar

Weren't you the nigga taking about AGHHH YOU NIGGAS QUOTIN SIMPLE LINES.... Lol and here you are not being able to understand this shit

Some of Y'all niggas too predictable ... Lol

You take the clothes off my back

And I let you

You steal the food right out of my mouth

And I watch you eat it

I still don't know why

Why I love you so much

Ohhh

You curse my name

In spite to put me to shame

Air all my laundry in the streets

Dirty or clean

Give it up for fame

But I still don't know why

Why I love it so much

Yea

And Baby

It's amazing I'm in this maze with you

I just can't crack the code

One day you screaming you love me loud

The next day you're so cold

One day you here, one day you there, one day you care

You're so unfair sipping from the cup

Till it runneth over, Holy Grail

------------------------

You know I still would have perfered Frank Ocean on this hook but shit Justin did his thing ... He sounded coo... Plus the lyrics are real ill .... It's a dope little personification/metaphor for "Fame" and it's addictive qualities ..."Fame & Foturne" would basically be the female in this intoxicating relationship .... Dope shit ... I used to love HER style
