This is what happens when you think having old ass timberland and washed up pharrell will get you an instant hit.

This album sounds super rushed and outdated is fuck. F.u.t.w. and ocean are the best songs on the album by far. they're the only songs that had sounded refreshing but then I was let down shortly by somewhere in america and the rest of that.

BP3 was a lot better than this shit

What we talkin

Thank you

On to the next

New york.....were all instant bangers when you heard them. Can't say the same for more than two songs on this album

Hell No this isn't better than Yeezus!! Yeezus at least had some tracks that ride out in their own weird way. "black skin head", "blood on leaves" "I'm in it", "send it up" shit even "guilt trip" was hard in its own way. This shit is weak and I've always been a fan of hov experimenting with his music

Hovs flow fucked this album up greatly.

Maybe this album will grow on me but I doubt it.

Whatever you feel about the Dynasty the Intro alone stops it from being trash

As well as Daddy where u been and Cant be Life

2 of his best, most introspective songs ever

Hence why u cnt compare this, to anything from back then. Lyrically its jv vs varsity

As far as solo Jay-Z albums go...

God Tier (in no order)

Reasonable Doubt

The Blueprint

The Black Album

American Gangster

Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life

Magna Carta Holy Grail

Mid Tier (in no order)

Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter

In My Lifetime, Vol. 1

The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse

The Blueprint 3

Garbage Tier (in no order)

Kingdom Come

The Dynasty: Roc La Familia

That's a 3 hot albums every 10 years average.

Niggas "no-signing". I looked over my post again, I don't see no problems? Where did I go wrong?

put bp3 and and vol.1 down and bump dynasty up and your good.

vol.1 is a pretty forgettable album for most parts, aside from a couple of tracks ('you must love me','streets is watching' and a couple of others)who can say they still bump that on the regular with the rest of the catalogue?it was decent at the time and I wouldn't say its garbage but its his worst ageing album,a lot of it sounds really fucking corny now.

bp3 was just shit.first time I actually felt embarrassed for hov.he tried to be all things to all people and it didn't work.I don't know what kind of blueprint he thought he was setting up with that album but the shit should have been destroyed before it was ever built.

dynasty has some of his best work on it,there's no way it should be classed as garbage,'this can't be life' is a classic, just for faces verse alone.and 'i just want to love you' is arguably his best club track aside with 'big pimpin'.yeah there's some shit on there but the production is mostly nice.

the rest I pretty much agree with, aside from this.i usually let albums of this magnitude digest for a while to see how it holds up.i think within a catalogue this deep that's how every hip hop listener should evaluate albums.

I agree on Vol. 1. Its not good or bad, its just...there. That still keeps it mid-tier tho.

The first 7 or so tracks on BP3 are pretty decent to great...then the album falls off a cliff completey (except for Already Home). I say mid-tier for a half and half album.

As for The Dynasty, yea...2-3 tracks can't make a hot album. "Can't be Life" is only dope because of Face and Kanye. It feels like something that should've been saved for The Blueprint.

U know damn well producers are like used car salesman when it comes to selling beats

I heard some of this shit in my cousin's whip earlier. It's Blueprint 3 Part II. More dumbing down for his audience to double his dollars. This nigga sounds bored as fuck with music nowadays.

So now that Pharell beat is generic lol

Jay got two #1 hits on this album:

BBC

On the Run

Book it...U might as well get used to hearin BBC

OK

I initially heard way good stuff about the album on here, then after a couple of Jay fans gave different opinions I decided to listen and judge ... On first listen in my car

JayZ has lost it lyrically and flow-wise. The production on this album is just aight; nothing spectacular as it was made out to be by y'all, in my opinion .. .

The song with Ross is fun and goes stupid mad in the whip (those 808's!!!) and the song with his missus is laid back and cool .. I loved her vocals on it. Those are my faves outta this whole jawn

'Tom Ford' was slightly embarrassing for a man of Jay's age; maybe the name-dropping of an acclaimed faggot.

So I'll side with @tompetrez3, @s2jepeka and @1of1 sentiments concerning this album. There's hardly if any SOUL in this jawn .. .

I think dude should focus his energies on becoming the first rapper turned billionaire 'cos he's truly past it musically and this is not a "hateful" post .. .

...Sigh...Smh...Dro an Atlanta ass nigga...He don't like this shit like that...Stop tryna generalize us...

An exception dont negate the rule. *shrug*

Listen to the beats and flows. Jay knew what he was doin. And im convinced im right

You could made it easier on yourself said...

He simplified and borrowed the Southern cadence for niggas who can't comprehend complex lyrics i.e. Down South niggas who don't give a fuck about that.

Now that it's out the bag...@A1000MILES is right. You're generalizing and dead wrong.

Jay's sharpness in his delivery has gotten dull because he's at a point where he doesn't have anything lyrically to prove anymore..especially to the Hip Hop heads.

Maybe that's why he said "niggas want my old shit, buy my old albums".

Ya Got the game messed up.

A producer will present a bet or few to The rapper . That He made in Mind for The rapper, FIRST.

The rapper either accept or decline.

Then the producer will go to the rest of his arsenal, and the rapper chooses from there.

^ that's the average, not standard beat selecting process. Either way in the end, the rapper chooses.
