@focus you really puttin this shit in the same league as Blueprint, Black Album, and American Gangster?

Yea man. Even if you don't think MCHG is as good as those albums (understandably), its still in the same league. I mean, whats worse? Comparing MCHG to The Black Album...or to The Blueprint 3? Would you honestly group MCHG in with those mid-tier albums I listed? I don't think there are any skippable tracks on MCHG. This is definitely one of Hov's finest.

Jay-Z, Magna Carta Holy Grail

HIP-HOP

**** (out of four)

Jay-Z set the bar high for himself with the buildup given this album in the three weeks since the surprise announcement that it would be available for free to 1 million Samsung customers on Fourth of July.

But that's just the kind of challenge the rapper, who once claimed to walk on water, thrives on. The music was more than worth the wait.

A coolly confident Hov boasts of his wealth, but also ponders what it's really worth and when is enough on Picasso, Baby. He also contemplates his fitness for parenthood in light of having been raised without a father on Jay-Z Blue, and questions on Nickels & Dimes whether his charitable giving stems from genuine concern or guilt. He has fun, too. BBC is an old-school posse cut with Nas, Beyoncé, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell and Timbaland. Elsewhere, he gets help from Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross and Frank Ocean.

The breadth of his subject matter — which also touches on family, loyalty, spirituality and fame — is matched by his lyrical acuity. His perspective is that of someone who has achieved much but hasn't lost sight of what brought him to this point.

With platinum status guaranteed even before his album goes on sale July 9, he could have just mailed it in. But he stays on top, because he refuses to do anything less than epic.

Album wack for jay z standards. Sounds like a 2 chainz mixtape. All them bitch ass Jigga warriors talked shit about 808 beats being played out but that's all I hear on this album with Jay Z trying to rap like he from the south. He didnt go in on this album. He probably needed breathing treatment after every verse because he sound so weak on the tracks. If you are a jay z fan you should be ashamed on his performance on Tom ford. In 98 Jay Z would of ripped that beat to shreds. Jay z struggled and never got off on his verses. The beats drown out his performance. Jay Z was supposed to drop genre changing lyrics on this album and all he did was show the listeners how hard he fell off. When did Jay Z start taking 5 second pauses after a bar? He ain't put no effort in on this album. Lyrics suck. Content suck. Delivery suck. Only dumb niggas as Jay Z pointed out buy dumbed down music of his.

Oh yea. That reminds me... How did he tie everything together for the Magna Carta and New Rules theme on this concept album?

Just curious. Still haven't heard it post.

Niggas "no-signing". I looked over my post again, I don't see no problems? Where did I go wrong?
